🌧✨ Monsoon Charity Fair – Season 2 ✨🌧

🌟 A Landmark Partnership for Mental Health in India 🌟

We are proud to announce a groundbreaking collaboration between Axis Bank and Antara Psychiatric Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre, with the signing of an MoU to establish the Axis Bank Antara Institute of Health Sciences in Kolkata.

This will be one of Eastern India’s first dedicated educational institutions for mental health, offering accredited programs in psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work, and counselling.

🧠 In May 2025, Antara became the first hospital in West Bengal to receive DNB accreditation in Psychiatry. This new institute builds on that achievement aiming to train over 200 students annually by 2028, nurturing a new generation of mental health professionals.

This partnership represents a shared vision of inclusive, equitable mental health care for India. We are deeply grateful to Axis Bank for their support in transforming mental health education and advocacy.

Together, we move one step closer to building a more compassionate and resilient nation. 💙

🧠 Workshop on Childhood Disorders & ADHD | Empowering Educators for a Brighter Tomorrow 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫

The Antara Community Mental Health Unit successfully conducted an insightful Workshop on Childhood Disorders & ADHD, with the enthusiastic participation of 58 teachers from 58 schools across the region.

We were honoured by the gracious presence of Mr. Sourav Maji, B.D.O. Baruipur and Ms. Suparna Chakraborty, S.I., Baruipur Circle, who shared thoughtful reflections on the importance of early intervention and collective responsibility in ensuring the mental wellbeing of children.

Our heartfelt thanks to our distinguished resource persons, Ms. Sabana Yashmi and Mr. N.C. Mukherjee, for their engaging sessions that helped participants better understand the signs, challenges, and management strategies related to ADHD and other childhood disorders.

A special note of appreciation to Ms. Ankhi Sarkar of the Antara Community Mental Health Unit for coordinating the entire program, ensuring its smooth ex*****on and meaningful impact.

Strengthening Mental Health Education through Collaboration

Antara Society for Mental Health & Sciences (ASMHS) is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, marking the beginning of a meaningful academic partnership in the field of mental health.

The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Xavier Jeyaraj, Registrar of St. Xavier’s University, and Dr. Mathew P. John, Honorary General Secretary of ASMHS. The signing took place in the gracious presence of Father Dr. John Felix Raj, Vice Chancellor of St. Xavier’s University, along with esteemed members of the university’s faculty and staff. Representing ASMHS were Ms. Molly Thambi, Joint Secretary; Mr. Nobin D. Samuel, Acting CEO of Antara Psychiatric Hospital; and Ms. Bincy Mary George, Manager (Operations), Antara Institute of Health Sciences.

This collaboration paves the way for launching new academic programs and training initiatives aimed at building capacity in the mental health sector, empowering professionals, and creating a more inclusive and supportive society.

Antara hosted a powerful session addressing psychiatric emergencies in children and adolescents, bringing together healthcare professionals, social workers, and mental health experts.

Mr. Nitai Chand Mukherjee shared insights on the operational system of the Child Ward, followed by Ms. Trisha Maity highlighting frontline challenges lastly Ms. Sayani Naskar who shared about child emergencies.

🔸 Expert Panel Discussion
Moderated by Dr. Soumya Chatterjee, Chief Psychiatrist, the panel included Dr. Bappaditya Chowdhury, Dr. Radhika M.S., Mr. Nitai Chand Mukherjee, and Ms. Sabana Yashmi, discussing system gaps, ethical dilemmas, and collaborative solutions.

On 17th July 2025, the Antara Community Mental Health Unit conducted a successful community awareness programme with 80 SHG leaders and the Panchayat Pradhan of Khorda Gram Panchayat under Diamond Harbour Block-2.

🧠 The session focused on:

Recognizing early warning signs of mental health issues in children

Exploring practical strategies to address them

📍Participants also received detailed information about the mental health services available at our Raichak Clinic.

July 14th is National Psychologist Appreciation Day, a moment to honour the dedication of psychologists who support mental well-being with care and compassion.

At Antara Psychiatric Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre, Kolkata, we deeply appreciate the tireless efforts of our psychologists in helping individuals heal and thrive.

To celebrate the day, interns from the Psychology Department conducted a heartfelt program, expressing gratitude to their mentors and highlighting the importance of mental health care.
