Antara is a Non Governmental, Non Profit, Secular, Voluntary and charitable Society established in 1971, and registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act in 1972. For the past 50 years, Antara has been engaged in the care, treatment and rehabilitation of people suffering from mental illness, drug addiction and alcoholism. n the naturally serene and beautiful environment of South 24 Parganas, accommodates an Out Patient Department (attended by about 250 patients every day), Indoor-hospital with separate facilities for acute, sub-acute, special care, addiction treatment, day treatment, family therapy and rehabilitation facilities for children and adults. To aid in the treatment, recovery and rehabilitation of patients, there are various facilities at this centre for recreation, vocational training, work therapy, aesthetic therapy etc;
Antara also operates four Satellite Clinics in remote areas, to provide quality mental healthcare to the people who cannot come to us. The Community Mental Health unit extends a number of community based health services as well. ANTARA has become a Movement and symbol of hope for people suffering from mental health problems.
