This Centre, established on a 7-acre plot of land situated i
n the naturally serene and beautiful environment of South 24 Parganas, accommodates an Out Patient Department (attended by about 250 patients every day), Indoor-hospital with separate facilities for acute, sub-acute, special care, addiction treatment, day treatment, family therapy and rehabilitation facilities for children and adults. To aid in the treatment, recovery and rehabilitation of patients, there are various facilities at this centre for recreation, vocational training, work therapy, aesthetic therapy etc;
Antara also operates four Satellite Clinics in remote areas, to provide quality mental healthcare to the people who cannot come to us. The Community Mental Health unit extends a number of community based health services as well. ANTARA has become a Movement and symbol of hope for people suffering from mental health problems.

🌟 A Landmark Partnership for Mental Health in India 🌟
We are proud to announce a groundbreaking collaboration between Axis Bank and Antara Psychiatric Hospital & Rehabilitation Centre, with the signing of an MoU to establish the Axis Bank Antara Institute of Health Sciences in Kolkata.
This will be one of Eastern India’s first dedicated educational institutions for mental health, offering accredited programs in psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work, and counselling.
🧠 In May 2025, Antara became the first hospital in West Bengal to receive DNB accreditation in Psychiatry. This new institute builds on that achievement aiming to train over 200 students annually by 2028, nurturing a new generation of mental health professionals.

🧠 Workshop on Childhood Disorders & ADHD | Empowering Educators for a Brighter Tomorrow 👩🏫👨🏫
The Antara Community Mental Health Unit successfully conducted an insightful Workshop on Childhood Disorders & ADHD, with the enthusiastic participation of 58 teachers from 58 schools across the region.
We were honoured by the gracious presence of Mr. Sourav Maji, B.D.O. Baruipur and Ms. Suparna Chakraborty, S.I., Baruipur Circle, who shared thoughtful reflections on the importance of early intervention and collective responsibility in ensuring the mental wellbeing of children.
Our heartfelt thanks to our distinguished resource persons, Ms. Sabana Yashmi and Mr. N.C. Mukherjee, for their engaging sessions that helped participants better understand the signs, challenges, and management strategies related to ADHD and other childhood disorders.

Strengthening Mental Health Education through Collaboration
Antara Society for Mental Health & Sciences (ASMHS) is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata, marking the beginning of a meaningful academic partnership in the field of mental health.
The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Xavier Jeyaraj, Registrar of St. Xavier’s University, and Dr. Mathew P. John, Honorary General Secretary of ASMHS. The signing took place in the gracious presence of Father Dr. John Felix Raj, Vice Chancellor of St. Xavier’s University, along with esteemed members of the university’s faculty and staff. Representing ASMHS were Ms. Molly Thambi, Joint Secretary; Mr. Nobin D. Samuel, Acting CEO of Antara Psychiatric Hospital; and Ms. Bincy Mary George, Manager (Operations), Antara Institute of Health Sciences.
This collaboration paves the way for launching new academic programs and training initiatives aimed at building capacity in the mental health sector, empowering professionals, and creating a more inclusive and supportive society.

On 17th July 2025, the Antara Community Mental Health Unit conducted a successful community awareness programme with 80 SHG leaders and the Panchayat Pradhan of Khorda Gram Panchayat under Diamond Harbour Block-2.
