Medium-chain fats like lauric, capric, and caprylic acid, found in coconut milk and breast milk, are metabolized differently.
They:
• Do not require bile for digestion
• Go directly to the liver via the portal vein
• Provide quick, digestible energy
Some, like lauric acid, also have antibacterial, antiviral, and antioxidant properties, making them powerful allies for gut and immune health.

Long-chain saturated fats form the core structural fats of the human body.
They make up 75–80% of fatty acids in most cells and act as the primary storage form of energy.
These fats provide stability to cell membranes and are not inherently harmful when sourced properly. In fact, they are essential for cellular integrity and long-term energy needs.
Quality matters more than quantity.

Healthy fats are not optional; they are foundational to human health.
They support immune function, protect internal organs, regulate body temperature, nourish skin and hair, and help absorb vital fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K.
In functional medicine, we don’t fear fats- we focus on fat quality and balance, especially the balance between omega-3 and omega-6 fats, which plays a major role in inflammation and chronic disease.
When you nourish your body with the right fats, you support healing at a cellular level.

Vitamin D reduces excessive cell growth (a cancer trigger) and improves healthy cell differentiation.
Optimal levels = powerful cancer protection.
For true therapeutic benefits, Vitamin D levels should be around 50 ng/mL. Most people fall short due to indoor lifestyles. Let’s fix that with awareness & action.
Vitamin D is more than a “sunshine vitamin" it’s a cell-level regulator that supports immunity, hormones, mood, metabolism, and longevity. Let’s begin our 15-day deep dive. ☀️✨ www.functionalmedicineclinic.in

🌿 Healing “Gut-Reset” Khichdi
Combines easy-to-digest grains + lentils for balanced protein and carbs.
Includes spices like turmeric, ginger, cumin, fennel/asafoetida- all known to support digestion, reduce inflammation and gently support detox.
🥄 Ingredients (serves 2–3)
🌿½ cup split yellow mung dal (moong dal)
🌿½ cup rice
🌿1 tbsp ghee (or cold-pressed oil)
🌿½ tsp turmeric powder
🌿1 tsp cumin seeds
🌿¼ tsp fennel seeds (optional)
🌿¼ tsp asafoetida (hing) — helpful for sensitive digestion
🌿1 small piece of fresh ginger — grated (optional but good for digestion)
🌿Salt — to taste
🌿3–4 cups water (adjust for consistency — more for a soupy khichdi)
Optional for extra nourishment / variety:
Add a handful of chopped vegetables (e.g. carrot, bottle-gourd, spinach) for fibre, vitamins & gentle detox benefits.
🍲 Method
🌿Rinse the moong dal and rice thoroughly under running water until water runs mostly clear. (Soaking 15–20 min helps digestion, but optional.)
🌿In a pot or pressure cooker, heat the ghee/oil. Add cumin seeds (and fennel seeds, if using). Let them sizzle for a few seconds.
🌿Add grated ginger (if using) and asafoetida — sauté gently.
🌿Add moong dal and rice, turmeric, salt — stir gently for a minute so spices coat the grains / dal.
🌿Add water (3–4 cups, depending on how soupy you want the khichdi).
On stove: Cover and cook on medium-low until dal and rice are soft and mushy (about 25–30 min).
Pressure cooker: Cook for 2–3 whistles, then let pressure release naturally.
Once cooked, mix gently. Optional: drizzle a little ghee (or olive oil) on top, garnish with fresh coriander leaves or a squeeze of lemon.
Serve warm — ideal for lunch or dinner, especially when you want something gentle yet nourishing.
💚 Suggested Use — “Gentle Reset” Meal
Use this khichdi as a go-to meal during gut-healing days, when digestion feels sensitive, or when you want a light, nourishing meal that supports body-brain balance.
