NIST Counselling Service NIST Counseling Service provides a blissful and pragmatic service to the young minds which nourishes them to adapt to the circumambience of the institution

Counseling is a professional liaison that empowers diverse individuals or groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education and career goals. NIST Counseling Service provides a blissful and pragmatic service to the young minds which nourishes them to adapt to the circumambience of the institution. Counseling service consists of Student Counselor, faculty advisor and student guides who try to ensure happiness with every student’s life to provide a safe and secure environment within the institution. Every student guide with a faculty advisor handles 10-12 first year students organizing two official meetings in a semester and innumerable unofficial meet whenever necessary. They ensure that every student overcomes the challenges and is working smoothly both in academics and extra-curricular activities. Student guide analyses each student and focuses in all round development by spreading awareness about the opportunities rendered by the college in their field of expertise. Personal counseling is a process of self-discovery and growth. We provide personal counseling to the students to increase self-confidence, ameliorate relationships, solve problems, achieve educational goals and make good decisions for physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual well-being. We also provide individual and group counseling for personal concerns where students encounter relationship difficulties (e.g., friends, roommate and family), depression, anxiety, stress, dealing with change, fear of failure, career uncertainty, frustration and coping with feelings like loneliness, sadness, shame, anger, and guilt. Here, the Counselor act as a good listener and scrutinize all the situations carefully and confidentially to eradicate the barrier in peaceful living.

We all are familiar with a word called 'HUMANITY', but only a few of us know the real meaning. Some people say, showing kindness to poor people is humanity, some say earning money in a right way is called humanity but no one is accurate because the real meaning is very much beyond our imagination. One day I started to search the real world where real humans exist, where human emotions are not being sold. And chetana was the place, a place where every individual reflects the real humanity. Maybe they are not like us but each of them is blessing of God. Yes, the situation they are facing is not what they deserve but we people are so much busy in our own schedule that we can't even think of making them comfortable in their living. The only difference between us and them is the greed for goods. We all are so much obsessed with goods and artificial livings that we have started to forget people even in our surroundings. But a session from our "not so important but busy" schedule can bring a big curve of happiness in their face. Maybe these children are mentally challenged but the toughness of the challenge can be reduced by little bit care and nourishment from our side. The only thing they need is the support, they always search for someone to stand by their side and give a smile in every step they put forward. Previously I was also among the crowd who don't even care about people but then I visited chetana and spent with them I realize how much tough someone's life could be. We can't even imagine a day without our parent but these children are even neglected by their parents. Ya, I entered the school being a human but I came out with the real meaning of humanity which lies within that environment. The day I visited Chetana I learned one thing which I will sustain within me throughout my life i.e., "Money can't buy everything but a smiling face can win every happiness of this world". And to learn humanity first learn to be a human, Be greedy to earn love for others instead of artificial happiness.

This is indeed a hard time for everyone. But yet we need to support each other to make everyone's life a better one and make this place a better one to live. As we know the difficult situations bring out the best in us. Similarly we need to stay positive and take the best opportunities out of this situation too.

“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”

‘Diganta’ is an educational institution which is brought up by NIST foundation, provides free education residence to more than 400 underprivileged and meritorious students of the tribal area from south Odisha.

Team NCS visits the school annually to envisage their well being. Having a lot of enjoyable moments with those kids, we returned with loads of memories and experiences. The lifestyle of those kids has a great lesson in itself. They have much more to grieve and much more to overcome than us. But it never reflects on their face. All they have is a beautiful heart-warming smile!!
And that took away all the stress and strain of our daily hectic schedule. The two days visit was worth remembering for each member of our team.
