As part of the World Oral Health Day celebrations, an oral health screening camp was organized at Bhimavaram Old Age Home, in alignment with this year’s theme, “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind.” The camp, led by Dr. K. Sri Chaitanya Ram (Public Health Dentist) aimed to raise awareness among elderly residents about the importance of oral hygiene and identify those in need of prosthodontic care, particularly denture rehabilitation. A dedicated team of postgraduates from the Department of Prosthodontics and house surgeons conducted comprehensive oral examinations, focusing on age-related conditions such as tooth loss, periodontal issues, and oral mucosal lesions. Individuals requiring prosthetic treatment were shortlisted for an upcoming denture fabrication drive. Alongside screenings, interactive awareness sessions were held to educate residents on maintaining oral hygiene suited to their age and health status, emphasizing the role of oral health in nutrition, communication, self-esteem, and mental well-being. The initiative was well-received and served as a meaningful step toward enhancing the oral and overall health of the elderly community.
