Newlife PICU Diary
An 2 years old girl. Was found drowned in water tank by friends.
The kid was brought in unconscious state with grasping respiration.
Child was intubated and kept on ventilator. She was in shock and had seizures after admission. Required ventilator support for 3 days. Lungs were completely hazy on CXR and required high pressure & 100% fio2 oxygen initially.
Child gradually improved. Was shifted to room after 6 days and successfully discharged on 7th day with no neurological deficit on discharge.
Last month this was the third child of drowning. 2 kids were brought dead.
A request to all the parents to monitor the kids while they are playing outside the house.
