June 8th is observed as World Brain Tumour Day 🧠

This year’s theme is “Protect yourself- Keep away from stress”

🧠 Brain tumour is an abnormal growth of cells in or around Brain.

🧠 It can develop in all the age groups

🧠 It is one of the primary tumour of central nervous system.

🧠 Brain tumour can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).

🧠 Symptoms include : headache, nausea ,vomiting, blurry vision, losing sight, failure to feel movement of arms and legs, trouble with balance , fatigue, speech problems, confusion , loss of memory, behavioural problems, inability to hear properly , vertigo.

🧠 Reduce the risk of developing brain tumour by avoiding smoking and exposure to other harmful radiation.

🧠 Follow a healthy lifestyle and prevent yourself from developing any disease.

🔸 This year the theme for world food safety day is - Food standards save lives!

🔸 So this food safety let’s get aware about the food-borne illnesses and understand the importance to prevent and detect risk associated to food safety practices.

🔸 Food safety practices and standards should be practiced at each level from production stage to distribution is order to achieve good health.

As per CDC reports , worldwide atleast 14 million youngsters of age between 13 to 15 use to***co products.

To***co products include ci******es, smokeless to***co, e-ci******es; these products contain ni****ne.

Organs affected by to***co includes - heart, blood vessels , lungs , eyes, mouth , reproductive organs etc

It can cause cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases , diabetes and chronic pulmonary diseases. It can also increase risk of tuberculosis, eye sight problems and diseases related to immune system.

Secondhand smoke is equally dangerous for others leading to many health problems.

World Hypertension Day is celebrated on May 17th every year to spread awareness among the society about Hypertension and its impact on the development of serious medical issues.

World Hypertension Day theme is “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer”

As per the data shared by WHO :

An estimated 1.28 billion adults aged 30–79 years worldwide have hypertension, most (two-thirds) living in low- and middle-income countries
An estimated 46% of adults with hypertension are unaware that they have the condition.
Less than half of adults (42%) with hypertension are diagnosed and treated.
Approximately 1 in 5 adults (21%) with hypertension have it under control.
Hypertension is a major cause of premature death worldwide.
One of the global targets for noncommunicable diseases is to reduce the prevalence of hypertension by 33% between 2010 and 2030

Dietary modifications for Hypertension :

Use less amount of salt in diet
Increase fiber intake
Have more of lean proteins
Include potassium rich foods in your diet like tomatoes etc.
Reduce the intake of fats in diet
Replace refined carbohydrates with complex carbohydrates.
Avoid processed foods, packaged foods and frozen foods.
Avoid foods that contain sodium like pickles, papad, baking soda, bakery products etc.

Lifestyle modifications :

Exercise daily
Stay active
Drink adequate amounts of water
Avoid consumption of Alcoholic beverages and smoking

Note :

You can only be diagnosed with hypertension if three consecutive readings of blood pressure ae high. (More than 120/80 mmHg)

🔺 Here are few tips by which you can’t keep your kidneys healthy !

➖ Drink plenty of water

➖ Avoid smoking

➖ Select healthy foods

➖ stay physically active ; indulge yourself into some exercises

➖ Maintain your body weight : your BMI should fall into normal range

➖ Avoid excessive consumption of medicines

➖ Keep a check on your sugar levels , lipid profile and blood pressure; A person should maintain their sugar and lipid profile.

➖ Avoid excessive consumption of salt

➖ Get routine blood checkup done annually.

➖ Do not consume protein in excessive amounts ; Keep it below 2g per kg of ideal body weight.
