Dental Veneers
• What they are: Thin coverings, typically made from porcelain or composite resin, that are permanently bonded to the front surface of a tooth. 
• Purpose: To correct various cosmetic issues, including:
• Severe discoloration or stains that can't be fixed by whitening. 
• Chipped, broken, or worn-down teeth. 
• Minor misalignments or uneven teeth. 
• Gaps or spaces between teeth (diastema). 
• Misshapen or smaller-than-average teeth. 
• Procedure: Placing traditional veneers, especially porcelain, usually requires the removal or "trimming" of a small amount of the tooth's enamel to ensure the veneer fits flatly and doesn't look bulky. 

Dental Laminates
• What they are: Often considered a type of ultra-thin porcelain veneer, sometimes referred to as "no-prep" or "minimal-prep" veneers. They are significantly thinner than traditional veneers (often compared to the thickness of a contact lens). 
• Purpose: They serve the same function as veneers but are typically best suited for:
• Minor cosmetic enhancements, such as slightly improving the shade or shape. 
• Correcting minor chips or small stains. 
• Procedure: The key difference is that laminates require minimal to no enamel removal from the natural tooth structure because they are so thin. This makes the procedure less invasive and sometimes reversible.
