Influenza: (Viral infection & affects nose, throat & lungs)

Cause:
Influenza virus can be transmitted by an infected person to a healthy person in droplets while coughing, sneezing or talking.

Symptoms:

• Running nose
• Nasal congestion
• Cough
• Sneezing
• Fever
• Chills
• Headache
• Fatigue
• Sore throat
• Shortness of breath

 Symptoms are manifested after 1-4 days of influenza virus infection.
 Symptoms last for 5-7 days.

Treatment:

• Throat lozenge
• Nasal decongestant
• Anti-cough syrup/tablet
• Antipyretic drug (e.g: Paracetamol)

Advice:

• Intake more amount of fluids
• Take more rest

Prevention:
An annual vaccine for influenza can help to prevent it.
