There were many more of such facts discussed with the enthusiastic parents in the Hearing & Speech Health Camp, organised by LipSpeak in association with Bright Eyes Play School on 2nd August' 2025. The following were a few discussions and activities done during the camp:

👉Phases of development of a child
👉Why timely evaluation of hearing and speech capabilities are required for their holistic growth
👉How parents could enhance the reception factor of their child which is a major contributor to their intelligence
👉The parents were provided with SELF EVALUATING FORMS to try and evaluate their children at home.

Our sincerest gratitude to the principal Mrs. Chinmayee Nayak for her guidance and support. We thank the entire staff of Bright Eyes Play School and the parents for their cooperation as well.

WHAT IS SPEECH THERAPY AND WHY DO WE NEED IT?

Speech therapy is a specialized form of therapy aimed at improving communication skills, including speech, language, and swallowing abilities. Speech therapists, also known as speech-language pathologists (SLPs), work with individuals of all ages who experience difficulties with speech and language due to various reasons such as developmental delays, neurological disorders, stroke, traumatic brain injury, or congenital conditions.

It was nothing less than exhilarating, meeting the brightest tiny tots and their parents at the recent Hearing & Speech Camp conducted in association with The Pride World School, BBSR.
Hearing and Speech are two essential faculties of human which has direct contribution towards a person's development. It is imperative to get them evaluated every year, beginning at birth, to ensure systematic development of a child. We conducted the camp on 19th & 20th July' 2025, where we carried out:

1️⃣Hearing Evaluation- Audiometry/ OAE/ Impedance
2️⃣Speech Evaluation
3️⃣Parent counselling

The LipSpeak family is grateful to the staff of The Pride World School and the parents, without whose support and trust this event wouldn't have been successful.

What Can Cause Hearing Loss in A Child?

There are several reasons for hearing loss in infants; some of them are as follows :
1. Otitis media or Infection and inflammation of the middle ear (Otitis media is widespread and affects 75% of the children by the time they are three years old)
2. Hole in the eardrum
3. Accidental head injury
4. Viral or bacterial meningitis or mumps
5. Ototoxicity or deafness caused by certain medicines
6. Exposure to loud sound
