📽️IVUS guided approach
IVUS(Boston Scientific Cardiology) evaluation showed severe calcification in proximal and mid RCA, which is thick and concentric and with multiple eruptive nodules also. The smallest balloon available was also not able to cross the lesson. Rota wire (Boston Scientific) crossed the lesion with difficulty. 1.5mm burr didn't cross even with very high RPM. Down sizing to 1.25mm burr could cross the lesion and then also brushed with 1.5mm burr. To achieve full lesion modification and optimised result, RotaTripsy approach was planned.3.5mm IVL balloon burst at the nodule site. Finally 3mm IVL balloon(Translumina Therapeutics) able to deliver 80 shock wave pulses at targeted area with precision.
Angiogram showed excellent result. IVUS confirmed nice impressive result after stenting. Grateful to all my colleagues, cathlab technical personnel, nursing officer at Manipal Hospital, Bhubaneswar for their support.

A middle aged man was suffering from a fatal disease called “Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)”.
Here the wall of the abdominal aorta (the major blood pipe of our body) gets thinner and the it expands like a balloon. The cause of this thinning may be due to atherosclerosis or some infection. This can lead to rupture and sudden death if left untreated urgently.
Happy to share that we have done successful percutaneous treatment known as “Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR)” in this patient. It involves putting covered stent graft across the aortic aneurysm so that the ballooned sac is excluded from the new aortic lumen and chance of aortic rupture is almost diminished.
The patient was discharged in stable condition. We are happy to provide this facility at Manipal Hospital, Bhubaneswar. Special thanks to Dr Biswajeet mohaptra, Dr Subhashree Samantray, Dr Rajeshree and whole Cathlab team and CCU team of Manipal Hospital, Bhubaneswar for their support and encouragement.

A 10day-old-newborn baby, 2.3 kg body weight, with critical cyanosis diagnosed to have critical congenital heart disease “VSD with pulmonary atresia”. It was a duct dependent pulmonary circulation. Life saving “PDA Stenting” was done successfully at Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar, following which his oxygen saturation improved and subsequently discharged home safely. He was doing well on follow up. I thank all the members of our cathlab team, cardiac anesthesia team and NICU team for this success.
Pulmonary atresia is a condition where the blood pipes supplying the lungs are not fully developed and therefore oxygenation of impure blood couldn’t happen. In such cases PDA Stenting is a crucial intervention to facilitate blood flow to the lungs resulting in improved oxygenation and survival of the baby.
We are happy to conduct such critical cardiac interventions in newborn babies at our center.

Happy to share that we have done 2 successful TAVI ( Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) in last month at Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar. TAVI is an intervention done to treat severe aortic stenosis without open heart surgery. Now we are one of the leading centres for TAVI in Odisha. I extend my heartfelt thanks to our cathlab team, CCU team, CTVS and cardiac anaesthetist team for this success.
