🩺 Solitary Kidney (ଏକମାତ୍ର କିଡନୀ)

🔹 What is it?
• Solitary kidney ମାନେ ଜନ୍ମରୁ (congenital) ବା ପରେ surgery/accident ପରେ ମାତ୍ର ଗୋଟିଏ kidney ରହିବା

🔹 Incidence
• ପ୍ରାୟ 1 in 1000 live births 👶

🔹 Effect on life
• ଅଧିକାଂଶ ଲୋକ normal life ବଂଚନ୍ତି 🏫⚽💼
• School, sports, job – ସବୁ possible

🔹 Possible risks (long term)
• High BP (hypertension)
• Urine ରେ protein (proteinuria)
• Kidney function କମିବା ⚠️

🔹 Precautions
• Adequate ପାଣି ପିଅନ୍ତୁ 💧
• Painkiller/NSAIDs ଅତିରିକ୍ତ ନେବେ ନାହିଁ ❌
• UTI ହେଲେ early treatment
• Regular checkup – BP, urine test, ultrasound, creatinine 🧪

🔹 Transplant need?
• ଅଧିକାଂଶ case ରେ transplant ଦରକାର ନାହିଁ ✅
• Rare case ରେ kidney failure ହେଲେ dialysis ବା transplant option ❤️

👶🚽 Child Crying During Voiding – Always Normal?

🔹 Most common cause (ସାଧାରଣ କାରଣ):
👉 Immature bladder–brain coordination
Infants ଓ toddlers ରେ bladder ଓ nervous system coordination ଭଲଭାବେ develop ହୋଇନଥାଏ, ସେଥିପାଇଁ voiding ସମୟରେ discomfort ଓ କାନ୍ଦିବା – ଅଧିକାଂଶ ସମୟରେ normal 👍

🔹 Other causes (ଅନ୍ୟ କାରଣ):
⚠️ UTI – burning, fever, foul smelling urine
⚠️ Phimosis – tight fo****in, ballooning while passing urine
⚠️ PUV – poor stream, straining, recurrent UTI

🔹 Other causes leading to UTI:
🦠 Poor perineal hygiene
💧 Infrequent voiding / holding urine
🚫 Constipation – bladder emptying affected
🧬 Vesicoureteric reflux 🔹 Warning symptoms (ସତର୍କ ଲକ୍ଷଣ):
🚨 Excessive crying
🚨 Weak or dribbling stream
🚨 Fever, poor weight gain

🔹 Tests to evaluate (ତଦନ୍ତ):
🧪 Urine routine & culture
🩻 Ultrasound KUB
📸 MCU (if indicated)
