Dr. Khirod Chandra Panda, Senior Audiologist. M.Sc. Sp & Hg, Ph.D. Awarded the best Audiologist Excellence Award by National Hearing Centres, Australia. Created a record to himself by successfully fitted nearly 25 thousand hearing aids to different patients. A true motherland lover refused many International Organizations offer in order to serve his fellow people, his State, his own Motherland
Dr.Panda, was born in the year 1971. After completing his schooling from Mission School Bolangir, Orissa and Govt. Boys High School, Unit-VIII, Bhubaneswar, in the year 1984, he completed his higher secondary from B.J.B. College, Bhubaneswar in the year 1986. He joined B.Sc (Audiology and Speech Therapy) course at National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai in 1986. After completing his bachelor’s from NIHH, Mumbai he joined for Master’s in Speech and Hearing at All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore in the year 1989 and completed in the year 1991.
Later on he joined at National Institute for Hearing Handicapped, Mumbai and thereafter served at Ispat General Hospital, Rourkela. He joined Capital Hospital, Govt. of Orissa, Bhubaneswar in the year 1994 and working there till date. He was deputed to Melbourne, Australia after a meritorious selection by National Hearing Centres, Australia. He continued there from 28th Aug, 2003 to 25th Feb, 2005. He is the only person from the state in this field who was deputed to Australia on a foreign assignment.
He has published many scientific articles in National and International journals. Recent scientific articles “Mutations in the connexin 29 Gene are not major cause of Non-syndromic Hearing impairment in India” and “Lack of association between SNP rs3914132 of the RELN gene and otoscierosis in India have been highly acclaimed of the project entitled molecular genetic studies of congenital hearing impairment in collaboration with institute of Life Science, Govt. of India, Bhubaneswar. This project work is being supported by Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi, Govt. of India. Project entitled “Genetic analysis of Otosclerosis” in an ongoing research activity in collaboration with institute of Life Sciences, Deptt., of Biotechnology, Govt of India, Bhubaneswar.
