Our story

“Shaping today’s generation for our tomorrow” There is need for Educational Institutes bring out qualified professionals in the field of disability & rehabilitation, particularly in speech and hearing. The Number of people affected with permanent disability in India is growing. According to 2011 census, the total number of Divyang in the country constitutes 2.1% of total population and the number is steadily growing. Actions that increase resources that can help them integrate into society and be productive therefore is top priority of the Govt. of India. IIRS & R has its mission to address this aspect through education. Located in cultural city of Bhubaneswar it is striving to be a nodal center for professional training in speech and hearing with excellence. International Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences & Research (IIRS & R) is a unit of AASTHA Charitable Trust. This trust has promoted IIRS & R with a noble intention of spreading education in allied health science & rehabilitation sector. The institute is established with aims and objectives to conduct and coordinate – research, training and services that would lead to successful rehabilitation of individual with Divyang. The major activities of IIRS are human resource development, research, rehabilitation service, material development and information documentation. International institute of rehabilitation sciences & research (IIRS & R) started Degree College to conduct B.ASLP (Bachelor in Audiology & Speech – Language pathology) course in Bhubaneswar. “As Bhubaneswar is home to many new age courses, the city became the location of education in communication disorders by active choice of trust Aastha charitable trust”. The Institute has a service component i.e., rendering services to Divyang (Speech and Hearing) and training component where degree in Speech & Hearing is offered. This course affiliated to University of Utkal is available since past 12 years. All the passed out graduates are appointed in Government & Non-Government health care services. The absorption rate into job sector of our graduates are among highest in the field. IIRS & R is recognized by Govt. of ODISHA, Approved by Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi, and affiliated to Utkal University.
