વિકસિત દેશોમાં જન્મેલા 1000 બાળકોમાંથી એક અને વિકાસશીલ દેશોમાં જન્મેલા 650 બાળકોમાંથી 1 બાળક ડાઉન સિન્ડ્રોમથી પ્રભાવિત છે.

ડાઉન સિન્ડ્રોમથી પ્રભાવિત 80% બાળકો 35 વર્ષથી ઓછી ઉંમરની માતાઓમાંથી જન્મે છે, જો કે 35 વર્ષથી વધુ ઉંમરની મહિલાઓને ડાઉન સિન્ડ્રોમ સાથે બાળક થવાનું જોખમ વધારે છે.
