ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಸಾಧನೆ, ಸಂಗೀತ ಸಿದ್ದಿ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಕೃತಿಗಳ ರಚನೆ, ಅಂಧ-ಅನಾಥ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಪೋಷಣೆ-ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ, ವೃತ್ತಿರಂಗಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಕಲಾ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಪ್ರಸಾರ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಈ ನಾಡಿಗೆ ಅಪಾರವಾದ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಧೀಮಂತ ಪುರುಷ, ಕಾಯಕಯೋಗಿ,ಪದ್ಮಭೂಷಣ ಡಾ. ಪಂಡಿತ್ ಪುಟ್ಟರಾಜ ಗವಾಯಿ ಅವರ ಪುಣ್ಯಸ್ಮರಣೆಯಂದು ಸಹಸ್ರ ಸಹಸ್ರ ಪ್ರಣಾಮಗಳು. ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನಗಲಿದ್ದು 17-09-2010 (ಭಾದ್ರಪದ ಶುಕ್ಲಪಕ್ಷದ ದಶಮಿ).
REMEMBERING PANDIT PUTTARAJ GAWAI
'Padma Bhushan' Pandit Puttaraj Gawai, born on 3 March 1914 in Haveri District of Karnataka, was a Hindustani classical musician of the Gwalior Gharana. He is renowned for his ability to play many instruments such as the veena, the tabla, mridangam, violin etc., as well as for his popular renditions of bhajans. He was a vachanasa scholar who authored more than 80 books in Kannada, Sanskrit and Hindi. He re-wrote the Bhagavad Gita in Braille script. Puttaraj Gawai is one of the pioneers of Veereshwara Punyashrama, a music school dedicated to imparting musical knowledge to people who are differently abled, especially blind from all castes, religions and sections of the society. Puttaraj Gawai also set up a theater company " Sri Guru Kumareshwara Krupa Posh*ta Natya Company" to help in raising funds to provide free food, shelter, education to disabled orphans and also to contribute to the theater culture. Puttaraj Gawai passed away on 17 September 2010 (Bhadrapada Shuklapaksha Dashami).
