Mahabodhi Medical College Organised Health Awareness Programme in Village Chandpur under Family Adoption Programme

Mahabodhi Medical College and Hospital, Sherghati, the Department of Community Medicine organised a comprehensive health awareness and community outreach programme in Village Chandpur as part of the Family Adoption Programme. The primary objective of the programme was to establish direct contact with the rural population, assess their health status, and motivate them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.During the programme, a team of doctors from the Department of Community Medicine along with MBBS internship students visited the village and interacted directly with the residents. Daily health check-ups of villagers were conducted, which included general physical examination, blood pressure measurement, body weight assessment, and identification of common health problems. Necessary medical advice was provided based on individual health needs.As part of the health education activities, villagers were educated about the importance of personal hygiene, balanced and nutritious diet, regular physical exercise, use of safe drinking water, and adoption of a substance-free lifestyle. Awareness was also created regarding prevention of seasonal and communicable diseases, and the importance of timely health check-ups and utilisation of primary healthcare services.Head of the Department of Community Medicine, Dr. Naveen Kumar, stated that the main aim of the Family Adoption Programme is to improve the overall health status of the rural community and to create awareness about primary healthcare services. He further emphasised that such programmes not only benefit the community but also provide valuable field-level practical exposure to medical students, helping them understand community health systems better.The programme witnessed active participation from Assistant Professor Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Dubey, Dr. Suman, Tutor Dr. Mayank Dwivedi, Dr swymaditya and Mr. Mithilesh. All faculty members carefully listened to the health concerns of the villagers and provided appropriate medical guidance. MBBS internship students played a significant role in conducting health examinations, creating awareness, and providing counselling to the community. Through this initiative, a positive attitude towards health and preventive care was observed among the villagers. The residents appreciated the efforts made by Mahabodhi Medical College and Hospital and expressed their expectation for more such health awareness programmes in the future.
