This very interesting drawing was co-created by our participants of self care series workshops. The drawing was inspired by the song Somewhere over the rainbow by
After drawing this beautiful piece of art, our participants moved and grooved on the same song. It was one of the best moments in all my sessions I have facilitated.
Hi, I am , a certified Dance Movement Therapist. Please bear with me and read the entire caption🙏 I have experienced the difference, a simple movement can bring and help our mental as well as physical health. Right now during this global pandemic, every employee in medical field is doing their best to protect everyone. So as a therapist I am going to do my part to help as many people as I can, to keep their mental health in check during this lockdown. I will put up a simple movement activity every two days. I am locked up with a very bad network reception so I will try my best to upload videos or audio files. But for now this written post will do.
Let’s start with something very simple. Take three deep breaths. Every time your inhale, take in every positive thing you need from your surroundings and let that breath spread through your body. Every time you exhale, exhale everything you don’t need in you. Once you have done this three times, just shake your entire body from head to toe. While doing this, please be careful of any injuries or muscle pain if you have any. Let us know how you feel in comments. Thank you😃

Its ok to ignore the reality for sometime. Its ok to forget the problem for sometime. Its ok to do things at your own pace. Nowadays with global pandemic, you are not expected to always be worried about the situation of country, financial crisis and health problems. Be aware of it, be sensitive about it and take precautions. Meanwhile, take a refuge in light reading. It doesn’t have to be something intellectual. It needs to be something that gives joy and relief from the constant stress.😊

Lockdown can affect everyone differently. Everyone do not have a privilege of working from home. Health emergency plus financial crisis can affect you mentally and emotionally. During this period, feeling is valid. Try to figure out a way to process these feelings or reach out for help. Focusing on things that are in your control and letting go of the things that you can not control is the best way to deal with the situation. 😊

Shout out to every human being out there. In this global pandemic caused by COVID-19, everyone needs to their part. Doctors are doing their jobs by treating and looking after those who are sick. Government and leaders are doing their best to maintain peace and provide as much as they can. Cleaners are cleaning every inch of the exposed areas. We as citizens, we need to do our bit by staying at home, because right mow that is the only thing that’s going to help us and everyone out there.

Most important thing that we need from ourselves is OUR TIME! It can start with baby steps!
Investing your time in yourself could be as simple as...
1. Indulging in your favorite hobby for 10-15mins in a day.
2. Reading your favorite book.
3. Having cup of coffee/tea without looking into your phone.
4. Calling a friend to have casual talk.
5. Pampering yourself with nice bath.
6. Taking a walk
7. Watching your favorite movie at home.
8. Treating yourself with your favorite food.

Today’s session was arranged by Women’s Development Cell at Nagindas Khandwala College, Malad in collaboration with Wings in Motion
It was again interesting to see how the reflections and perspectives of these youngsters differ from reflections of adults on similar activities!
Sessions with college students always teach us something new as a facilitator!😄

Setting boundaries does not mean being rigid or set in your ways! Setting Boundaries is a way of respecting and honoring your needs and emotions . It takes courage and practice to set healthy boundaries and follow through them.
Start small, communicate assertively, make yourself a priority😇
