AYURVEDIC COSMECEUTICALS:
Ayurvedic cosmetics can be traced back to the Indus Valley Civilization. Cosmetics were used not just to improve one's external look, but also to achieve longevity and good health (Sanskrit - Aayush and Aarogyam). There is evidence of extremely refined self-beautification notions and a wide range of cosmetics used by both men and women in ancient India. Many of these rituals were seasonal (Rutus) and discreetly intertwined with daily routine (Dinacharya). The ancient Indians' conception of cosmetic usage and practice was based entirely on natural resources. Skin care techniques outlined in Ayurvedic literature include a variety of formulations containing herbs and other natural components.
