James Cameron had visited Titanic wreckage 33 times. He had spent more time on Titanic than it's own Captain. Man went down the ocean just for the accuracy in his movie.

"Titanic is at the bottom of ocean not because of the poor technology or weak steel parts.. but just because of bad seamanship. It's Captain was warned that there were icebergs ahead and it was moonless night. But he went ahead and crashed the ship. the same happened with Oceangate." -James Cameron.

In 2012, James Cameron was the first person to reach deepest point of ocean (the mariana trench) in a solo submersible vehicle. The Australian engineer who built Cameron's submarine said that Cameron was obsessive about every detail and would debate for hours as to whether a titanium washer was better than a stainless steel one. That is the kind of attention to detail and seriousness required for such a dangerous venture.

It's easier to land on moon than on the ocean bottom. And we know more about Mars than our ocean bottom.
