27 Y/M presented with fever for one day then took IM Inj.Chlorphenaramine maleate,Inj Dexamethasone by B.A.M.S. Doctor.
Developed injection site swelling with tenderness and hematuria within next 24 hrs , referred to surgeon and got CT scan done.
Next 24hrs he developed AKI with ALF, Debridement done and Admitted to ICU and started dialysis, he succumbed to Septic shock and MODS.(within 48 hrs )
Past history: Pt was healthy,a body-builder,non-smoker,non-alcoholic,no h/o any steroid use.
Q.1 What are the common injection site bacterial infections ?
Q.2 Did early disarticulation of hip would have helped..?!
Q.3 Is the Doctor liable for penalty ?
AKI-Acute Kidney Injury
ALF- Acute Liver Failure
MODS-Multi Organ Dysfunction Syndrome.
