Yoga is a simple but powerful practice that brings harmony to the body, mind, and breath. It reduces stress, improves flexibility, strengthens the spine, enhances immunity, and supports deeper sleep. Regular yoga also helps balance the doshas, improves digestion, and keeps energy stable throughout the day. When combined with Ayurveda, yoga becomes a complete healing tool—supporting physical health, emotional balance, and inner peace. Perfect for anyone seeking natural wellness and a calm, focused life.

Why Ashwagandha Needs Purification (Śodhana)

1. To Reduce Natural Toxicity

Raw Ashwagandha root contains:
• Alkaloids
• Withanolides

In some people, these can cause:
• Gastric irritation
• Heat increase (Pitta aggravation)
• Loose motion
• Anxiety or palpitations (rare)

Purification reduces these irritant compounds.

2. To Remove Dirt, Sand & Microbial Impurities

Ashwagandha grows underground.
Purification removes:
• Mud
• Sand particles
• Microbial load
• Fungus spores

This makes it safer for long-term use.

3. To Reduce Strong smell & taste

Ashwagandha literally means “smell of a horse”.
Purification improves:
• Smell
• Taste
• Palatability

4. To Make It Easier on the Stomach

Raw Ashwagandha can be hard to digest for:
• People with weak digestion
• Elderly
• Pitta-prone people

Shodhana helps make the herb milder and more sattvic.

5. To Enhance Its Therapeutic Potency

When purified with:
• Cow milk
• Cow urine (traditional method)
• Ghee
• Decoctions like Dashamoola

→ The herb becomes:
• More nourishing (balyam)
• Better for strength
• Less heating
• More effective as a rasayana

How Ayurveda Purifies Ashwagandha

Traditional method:
1. Cut the dried root
2. Boil in cow milk for several hours
3. Dry it again
4. Powder it

This method increases its brimhana (nourishing) and vata balancing
