Karnapoorana Karnapuranam is a Ayurvedic treatment specifically designed for ear care. It is one of the important procedures mentioned under Dinacharya (daily routine) and also performed as a therapeutic procedure in clinical practice.

What is Karnapuranam?

Karnapuranam means “filling the ear”. It involves instilling warm medicated oil or herbal decoctions into the ears for a specified time. The word comes from:

Karna = ear

Puranam = filling or pouring

Purpose of Karnapuranam

Lubricates the ear canal

Removes impurities or wax build-up

Strengthens nerves and tissues in the ear

Helps prevent hearing loss due to dryness

Soothes tinnitus (ringing in the ear)

Reduces earache or itching

Helps to balance Vata dosha

Satsanga increases sattvic thoughts, speech, diet, and behavior, which naturally leads to physical and emotional balance.
