A 32 -year old mother of two boys, (7 years &2 years old). She was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia following two pregnancies. Her second delivery was an emergency cesarean, even though her first one was vaginal. She had gestational diabetes during her first delivery, but two years after giving birth, she developed Diabetes. She is now taking medication for the condition.
An Unforeseen emergency cesarean delivery has negatively impacted her health. She is still upset about the cesarean delivery and is in emotional anguish.
Moreover, she was scared to touch the surgical scar. I examined & later, I made her feel the surgical scars.
From her history, I understood that she learned exercises from YouTube, and she began to do workouts on her own. While exercising, she noticed the difference in abdominal muscles but ignored it.
Recently, she observed protruding umbilicus while standing, then she consulted an OBG doctor and was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia, and Confirmed with ultrasound.
On my clinical examination, I found a four-finger gap between the abdominal muscle, and She has open-type Diastasis Recti.
Umbilical Hernia is one of the complications of Diastasis Recti. As she was unaware of Diastasis Recti and didn’t approach an expert, and continued the exercises resulted in Umbilical Hernia.
