Autism Awareness Day was successfully conducted at SIMATS College of Occupational Therapy to promote understanding and acceptance of individuals with autism. The event began with a flag hoisting, followed by activities such as pamphlet distribution, an engaging flash mob, and a meaningful mime performance that conveyed messages of inclusion and empathy. A signing board was also arranged, allowing participants to express their support and solidarity, along with stalls that showcased student participation and activities. The session organized by the Institution's Innovation Council was conducted at SIMATS College of Occupational Therapy on 24/03/2026. The programme commenced from 1:00 pm onwards on the 6th floor of the Health Science Block. The topic of the session was "Developing Low Cost Assistive Devices for Community Rehabilitation." The session was delivered by Dr. Benette Branson Benjamin, Assistant Professor, FOT, MAHER. He shared valuable insights on designing and developing affordable assistive devices to enhance community-based rehabilitation practices. The programme provided participants with practical knowledge and innovative approaches to improve accessibility and patient care in rehabilitation settings.
