Dr Moosa’s highest specialization perhaps is in open heart surgery in children and new-born babies for birth defects in heart like ‘Blue Baby Syndrome’.It is this experience of treating children’s heart problems that inspired him into taking up the cause of the struggle against congenital heart diseases as a mission of life. It is this spirit for hismission that once made him save the life of a ten-day-old, seriously underweight (just 750grams) baby through a heart surgery. Once he also attempted heart operation on a tiny pre-mature baby with weight just less than 620 gms.Recognition for his divine work came his way many times during his surgical and humanistic service. The NS Das Puraskaram for Excellent Medical Service of 2001, the Mother Teresa Award for Excellent and Charitable Work of 2003, the Indian Red Cross Society Award of 2003 and International Citizen Award by Lions Club International in 2009 are some of these. Dr Moosa has stayed up to date in knowledge, information and experience in the field not just through studies and surgical sessions but through active interaction with various professionalsfrom different countries. As part of this endeavour, he has traveled in many countries attaining advanced training and attending professional conferences in countries like the US, Belgium,UK, Spain, Sri Lanka, UAE, Malaysia, and so on.In Short Dr. Moosa really belongs to that rare category of heart surgeons whom we call as a ‘Complete Heart Surgeon’.
