World Kidney day.
Kidneys function as gatekeepers by filtering the blood of waste and reabsorbing or pulling back essential nutrients. Kidney failure is a condition wherein this ability of the kidney to filter efficiently is lost and no more excretes the toxins, resulting in a their pile up in the circulating blood.
Kidney failure, most commonly results in adults from a range of conditions including infections, renal stones, diabetes, hypertension and sometimes with no identifiable cause. In children, similarly, congenital abnormalities, like stricture of ureters, hydronephrosis, and polycystic kidneys are found to be a reason. Again, idiopathic or no know cause is often a situation.
Commonest symptoms indicative of kidney failure are reduced frequency and quantity of urine, water logging in the body causing swelling of legs or abdomen and face, and breathlessness. Occasionally, fever may be accompanying, esp in case of infections or inflammations.
Treatment is started with attempting to locate the primary cause, while simultaneously working towards symptomatic improvement of the condition. Progression cannot be stopped with modern i.e. allopathic medicine and as condition progresses dialysis will be required.
However, it is possible to stop progression given the situation hasn't reached irreversible stages. Though, few out of the box changes have been documented by expert Homeopathic physicians. The possibility here lies in identifying the cause behind the infection - i.e. the cause of the infection itself and thereby uprooting it from the base.
Reverting back to normalcy may be possible.
Over the past 20 years, the incidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in children has steadily increased. Learn more here.
