A 52-year-old woman presented with severe pain and progressive stiffness in her left hand. The discomfort had gradually limited her movement, significantly affecting her daily routine and quality of life.

After a detailed clinical evaluation and advanced imaging, she was diagnosed with Kienböck’s Disease, a rare and debilitating condition caused by the loss of blood supply to the lunate bone in the wrist.

Dr. Anantha Kumar, Senior Consultant – Orthopaedics at Deepam Hospitals, along with his dedicated team, successfully performed a Hamate Fusion procedure.

This advanced surgical technique bypassed the damaged lunate bone.

The patient was discharged from hospital the next day after surgery and now, she is performing her daily activities without pain.
