46 Broken file retrieval. These long fragments with multiple points of engagement are always going to be difficult. I've used both an ultrasonic and the loop technique here.
The only other description i have about retrieving a broken file that is apt is that a skill that unfolds gradually, requiring focus and perseverance. The more you engage with it, the easier it becomes.

How do I bypass a broken file is a common question.

Here is my take on it

-There is no real technique to it and we rely entirely on the discrepancy between the cross-section of the broken file and the not so round root canal space.
-Use a thin file and keep poking around and once you get a sticky spot don't withdraw the hand file, switch to low amplitude filing until you can go past the broken file.
These cases does not necessarily require the typical large taper shaping, I'd be happy if I can finish of those canals with something even as small as a 2% hand file (15 or a 20)
Using a rotary is not a great idea but if you think you can remove it if it snaps between the canal and the broken file it isn't a bad idea too.

ADVANTAGE: In cases where the labial cervical area is already compromised by decay, leveraging through the defect is a practical way forward than to opt for the conventional access lingually (in other cases my preferred point of access is lingual just off the incisal edge where it offers a good SLA.
STRAIGHT LINE ACESS (SLA) is important but with the modern rotary file metallurgy it has to be re-defined
PS: To reduce the stress on the rotary file I have cut a small notch on the tooth to reduce the flexure.
