A focused one-day Capacity Building Program was conducted for Project Directors and Counsellors from DDACs, IRCAs, and Child De-addiction Centres, aimed at strengthening practical knowledge, communication skills, and collaborative approaches in addiction prevention and child de-addiction services.

Organised by the Department of Child Welfare & Special Services in association with the National Health Mission (NHM), the sessions were led by Ms. Sheeba Williams, Coordinator – Therapy, and Ms. Shalini John, Counsellor, who brought in real-world insights, interactive discussions, and grounded perspectives.

A purposeful step towards building stronger, more informed, and responsive care systems for children and families.

TTK Hospital, in collaboration with வாழ்க வளமுடன் (Vazha Valamudan), conducted community awareness programs across Devariyambakkam, Singaperumalkoil (Appur), Venbakkam (Kolathur), and Sriperumbudur—focusing on conversations that truly matter.

The sessions addressed addiction as a medical condition, not a moral failure, clearing common myths, understanding family impact and codependency, recognizing stages of addiction, and highlighting prevention, treatment options, and real possibilities for recovery.

With open discussions, shared experiences, and active participation from the community, the sessions reinforced one clear truth: awareness is the first step toward change.

Together, we continue working toward informed, supportive, and resilient communities.

Batch 2 | Certification Program in Addiction Management — Successfully Concluded
Over seven thoughtfully designed weeks, 25 students from Women’s Christian College completed an intensive certification journey focused on evidence-based addiction management and counseling practices.
The program blended strong theoretical grounding with meaningful practical exposure — covering counseling fundamentals, addiction dynamics, family therapy, COA work, group therapy, and experiential learning through horticulture, art, and music therapy. Sessions with GA & AA guest speakers added valuable real-world perspective, bridging classroom learning with lived experience.
The program concluded with certificate distribution and reflective creative sessions, marking not just completion, but professional readiness.
Participant feedback highlighted the program as insightful, engaging, and professionally transformative — reinforcing our commitment to building skilled, compassionate mental health professionals.
Our sincere appreciation to the facilitators whose expertise and dedication elevated every session, and to the students who approached this journey with curiosity, discipline, and purpose.

Stress does not disappear with a puff — it just gets postponed and multiplied.
That “calm” feeling is a chemical trick, not relief. What follows is craving, dependence, and a cycle that tightens over time.
Real control begins when we stop confusing addiction with relaxation and start choosing clarity over comfort.

From October to December, TTK Hospital, with support from NISD and NMBA, conducted school awareness programs across multiple Government Higher Secondary Schools, reaching 1,200+ students.

Through engaging conversations and hands-on activities like Brain Hijack, students explored the real impact of alcohol, drugs, and to***co, busted common myths, and learned practical ways to make healthier choices. The sessions were highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and asking thoughtful questions.

The programs were held across Thirukazhukundram, Marina, Vayalur, Karunilam, Perambur, Selaiyur, and Pallavaram, and were well appreciated by school authorities for their relevance and approach.

Building awareness early isn’t optional — it’s necessary. And this is how it starts.

Your phone is loud. Your mind doesn’t have to be.
Constant scrolling slowly disconnects you from yourself, often without you even noticing it.

Pause. Breathe. Reclaim your attention.
Your mental space deserves care, not constant noise.
