What if I say we can diet @ dome?
Eat right yet feed the body in the right posture.
Wonder why Japanese are much healthier, one of the many reasons is sitting on the ground and eating, the very old traditional way of sitting on the floor cross legged, relishing the food on banana leaves or stainless steel plates.
Unfortunately we get carried away by the fancy dining chairs laid decoratively in the dining hall is a part of every Morden home now. We have forgotten the old ways we used to sit down cross legged by laying the mat on the floor and serving the food in banana leaves or stainless steel plates. The ladies/gents serving the food bending every time, involves interpersonal bonding, all the while enjoying the delicacies prepared, exchanging ideas and thus the bonding over the food happens aesthetically.
While we sit cross legged to eat, the position itself is like performing an asana called Sukhasana
what happened to us ? Why did we leave such easily doable age old customs way back.
This asana we used to do almost daily many a times. While sitting and getting up say we do two squats and the very posture helps the body relax!
The cross legged postures helps in better blood circulation, so does our heart functions better.
This way of eating, every time we take the food in our fist, mix it with our hand increases the taste, process of taking the fistful towards our mouth, we bending forward simultaneously to take the mouthful, this movement itself improves the mobility of our hips and ankles. This way digestive enzyme gets synthesised early and helps effective digestion.
It also helps us to maintain a good posture, brings flexibility in the joints, relaxes the mind and bring calmness, humbleness.
May be this trend be followed once again and becomes habitual. May we all try eat atleast twice a week with the family members creating a better bonding.
Let's sit back, eat to relish and relax, be fit as well.
