Greeting from CANSTOP!

On October 13th , 2018 in a pleasant morning, Olcott Memorial school was fully packed with more than three thousand peoples dressed in the shades of pink who participated for a noble cause. CANSTOP an outreach program of Sundaram Medical Foundation organized a walkathon titled “One Walk One Hope” to commemorate the International Breast Cancer Awareness month. Lot`s of people good heartedly dedicated their time to create awareness to our communities. Apart from school and college students, lots of general public participated in this event.

Dr.C.Vijaya Baskar, Hon.Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Tamilnadu State Govt. was Honoured as the chief guest and he flagged the walk and also gave a talk to the participants about the importance of the early deduction and prevention of breast cancer and Rtn. Babu Peram -District Governor of Rotary (3232) was the guest of honour.

CANSTOP shows its gratitude to you for taking the time out of your precious, packed routines and spending it to make this event a grand success. All of us were greatly warmed by your presence. We hope the experience was Heart warming and Mystical.

We hope and aspire that you will support us in the following years to come too. You are the ray of light that enlightens the lives of others. By holding hands with the community and welcoming the community, you have made the community to feel confident than ever.

You CAN all get involved in this fight against Breast Cancer.

Greetings from SMF!!
CANSTOP is an outreach program of Sundaram Medical Foundation, Has organized ABC Exhibition – (All a’Bout Cancer) for the 8th year on August 11, 2018 (Saturday) between 08.00 am – 4.00 pm at Anna Adharsh College, Anna Nagar. It is a one day Exhibition which consists of various competitions and number of information stalls, about 360 children from 24 different schools all across Chennai participated in this event. It’s been a cancer awareness program reaching out to the general public by the school students.
These stalls were prepared by a group of students from different schools, who display the information on cancer related topics, which allowed them not only to learn more about this disease and how to combat it, but also developed their skills of research and presentation. The other events like Painting competition, Skit, Quiz competition and oratory competitions conducted for the students.
The program was inaugurated with the lighting the lamp by the eminent chief guest Mr. Udhyachandran, IAS Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu, School Education Department.
Guests of Honor:
Rotary Club of Madras: Rtn. Ranjit Prathap- President of Rotary Club of Madras, Rtn. P.N.Mohan- Immediate Past President of RCM, Rtn. Ashok Varadhan Shetty- Ex IAS Officer (Special Mention to Mr. Ashok Varadhan Shetty for conducting the quiz competition).
SMF : Mr. Durai – Trustee & Director, Dr. P.V.Jayashankar – Medical Director, Dr. Satyajith – Deputy Medical Director.
Judges: Skit- Mr.Milton, an artist, Stalls- Dr. P.V. Jayashankar, Dr. Satyajit, Rtn. P.N. Mohan, Painting- Dr. Swamykannu, Ms. Mital Surendira.
Oration: English- Ms. Indhumathi , Tamil- Dr. Surendran.
Our sincere gratitude to all the 24 schools students for their good response and their enthusiasm towards CANSTOP events and School Teacher coordinator’s, Principal’s, Parents & Family Members whom were supportive and encouraging children to participate. Our thanks to General Public, SMF Staffs from various department Maintenance, House Keeping , Canteen who are the supporters to make this event complete. Our acknowledgment to CANSTOP Volunteers for their continued support and guidance.
Finally our special thanks to Media Partner: Indian Express for publishing the information about ABC Exhibition and Venue Partner: Anna Adarsh College. Principal Dr. Jayashree Ghosh for providing the auditorium for 3 consecutive years.
