Magical Choco Flan: a combination of chocolate cake and caramel custard.

While setting the dessert, the cake is at the bottom and the Flan is at the top. After baking, voila, they switch positions!

And the magic continued in the taste! Brilliant!

Black Forest Cake

So the popular BFC as always with fresh cream and cherries.

The cake was not as soft as I wanted it to be. So a lesson there - I tried this with a butter based cake. I need to do this oil based cake for a more moist and soft cake!

But it tasted nice! 😊

An All Home-made Tiramisu...

So what did I make that I would have otherwise bought readymade? Two key items:
- ladies finger biscuit
- mascarpone cheese

And then the classic method! Dipping the biscuits in a coffee decoction, layering it in a tray, then alternating it with layers of mascarpone cheese and biscuits...and finally, a delicious dusting of cocoa and coffee powder on the top...

Mmmm...I can still get that taste!

Chocolate Pull-apart Bread!

Need I say anything more? The name says it all!

This is super stuff. The bread is nice and soft, layered with butter and chocolate. Oh, the chocolate is just a mild dash, so that as you eat the bread, the chocolate just plays a little cat and mouse with your palate!

Wow! No sooner than I kept it on the table, than it disappeared quickly!

This bread is made with Tangzhong Dough added to it which makes it super soft. Tangzhong dough is a paste made with flour and milk. I believe Tangzhong is a Japanese technique...

Time to break bread!

Baking a bread after a long-ish spell, I was wondering which one. Finally, with breakfast looming on the horizon, this was what I picked up: Eggless Winston Knot Challah bread!

Interesting, right?
Winston knot as in a type of knot and Challah as in bread from Jewish cuisine...

I thought the knots would tie me in knots before I began, but it was nice and easy!

This is a great breakfast bread and a lovely breakfast was had in the morning!

Mawa Cake!

So this is something new that I tried. This is a cake with a very Indian twist. The cake is made with Khoya (aka Mawa) which makes for a taste like that of Indian sweets. Topped with almond flakes, the cake itself has a nice cardamom flavor...

It seems these cakes can be found at traditional Irani or Parsi bakeries. Recommended for tea time!

A Marble Cake with Fresh Mango & Chocolate...

This one is simple. My only twist was to make it eggless. The addition of fresh fruit makes the cake a little dense, but nicely so! Oh, it was mango puree, by the way!

All you vegetarians, wanna give this a try? 😊
