I was 23, when I got married. After a year of blissful honeymoon period, we were excited to become parents and welcome our baby. But when I was not able to conceive naturally even after trying for 7 months, we decided to consult a gynae. I vividly remember my feeling till date,
It was during this time, at the youthful age of 24,
I was dreaming about my pregnancy glow.
Shocked to be encountered with infertility,
I stood there frozen and my tears flow.
The series of courageous battles with infertility that took 10 years to complete, changed me completely. I had 5 miscarriages, 3 molar pregnancies, 1 failed IVF, a brush with ovarian cancer and fortunately successful pregnancy on second IVF attempt. I was finally a mother to a healthy baby at age 34. As I held my baby close to my heart- I saw his innocent face, felt the warmth and heard his heart beat for which I craved for a decade!
Trust me when I say, I did every possible thing that promised me to help get rid of infertility. From visiting top & best infertility specialist doctors to desi nuskhe, to havan puja, following vastu shastra tips and what not. Though I never believed in such things before but back then, I was in such miserable state of mind that I couldn’t differentiate between science and silliness.
My own infertility journey motivated me to reach out to other women who are on a similar IVF journey. And in 2016, I started a platform to support couples in the journey of IVF, Fertility Dost. Today, I roar like a fearless tigress about “Infertility” and don’t want other couples to repeat my mistakes. I realized, along with medicines a holistic approach is very much required to keep you sane and take informed decisions throughout the infertility treatments.
