Gleneagles Hospital Chennai (part of the Fortis Healthcare network) recently hosted GLTS 2026 – the Gleneagles Liver and Transplant Summit – a four-day academic programme that set a new benchmark in liver and transplant education in India.
Built around the theme “What has changed, what matters, and what works,” GLTS 2026 brought together leading hepatologists, transplant physicians, HPB surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists and pediatric specialists from across the country to focus on what truly shapes contemporary liver and transplant practice. From acute-on-chronic liver failure and cirrhosis-related complications to pediatric liver disease, MASLD, HCC, and transplant candidacy, every session was designed to translate cutting-edge science into real-world clinical decision-making.
Across four days, the summit combined high-impact postgraduate clinics, state-of-the-art lectures, focused symposia, and immersive hands-on workshops – including India’s first virtual reality workshop in HPB and transplant surgery, advanced liver anaesthesia and critical care, CUSA-guided liver resection, and ancillary techniques in liver biopsy interpretation. This unique blend of case-based learning, open-house debates, and skills training ensured both depth and practical relevance for clinicians at every stage of their careers.
Proud to have contributed not only to the academic content, but also to shaping the direction, structure, and delivery of the programme – reaffirming our commitment to advancing liver care, nurturing the next generation of specialists, and driving innovation in transplant medicine.
