A poignant story from the venerable homeopath, Dr. Alfred Pulford MD:

"About fifteen years ago, an epidemic of scarlet fever broke out in Toledo in which there were some malignant cases, some of these falling to me. The case I am about to cite appeared on the opposite side of the same street to the home of one of my malignant cases and was placed under the care of an allopath and appeared to be a very mild case. This case got along splendidly, the boy was sitting up and at the window most of the time, and made a record recovery. The boy’s parents and the allopathic doctor poked all manner of fun at my patient’s parents for employing a homœopath.

The fun did not last long. My own case proved to be one of exceptional malignancy; putrescence, acridity, foetor and delirium were the predominating factors all through, the throat bearing the nearest resemblance to a true diphtheria that I have ever seen. It was an exceptionally severe case, with every opportunity for any and all the evil effects that could possibly attend or follow in the wake of an eruptive fever of any kind. It was a typical Arum triphyllum case, and Arum triphyllum 30 X in infrequent doses carried the boy through without a blemish.
It was four years later before I had to prescribe for the boy, and that for an ordinary cold. Today he is a fine, strong, healthy young man.

Just one month after I discharged this case I was called to attend the mother of the boy for a slight ailment, and while waiting for an answer to the doorbell, I happened to glance across the street. I saw a funeral wreath on the door of the home of the little lad who had had the light case of scarlet fever. I asked the reason for the wreath, and was informed that the little fellow had come down suddenly with acute nephritis and had been taken to the hospital, where he died. The certificate of death, “Acute nephritis following scarlet fever.” Just why? Just contrast the treatment and the final result of the two cases. In the final analysis I think it will be found that most all the fatalities and evil after-effects are due to our own negligence and ignorance, rather than to the diseases to which we now ascribe them."

Constantine Hering, MD, is recognized as the Father of Homeopathy in America. Here is a bit about his life:

He was born on January 1, 1800 in Oschatz, Saxony, in Germany. In 1817, he began studying medicine at a surgical academy in Dresden. By 1820, he was enrolled at the University of Leipzig, and during his studies there, he turned to homeopathy after injuring himself during a post-mortem examination. Refusing the traditional treatment of the time - amputation - he turned to homeopathy and was healed.

Hering became a practitioner of homeopathy and was a great advocate for Samuel Hahnemann, the father of homeopathic medicine. In 1826, he graduated from the University of Wurzburg with a doctor of medicine. He then spent the next 7 years in South America researching zoology and botany on the orders of the King of Saxony. Hering, however, continued working in homeopathic medicine at hospitals and a l***r colony. In 1833, he immigrated to the United States and opened his own medical practice.

Once in Philadelphia, Hering founded the Hahnemannian Society of Philadelphia. He promoted the use of homeopathic medicine and, in 1835, along with several other doctors, he founded the North American Academy of Homeopathic Medicine in Allentown, Pennsylvania - the first homeopathic medical school in the United States.

Homeopathic Remedies for Tinnitus
Remedies that are effective in treating tinnitus are Kali Mur, Natrum Salicylicum, Chenopodium Anthelmenticum and Chininum Sulph. Chosen carefully on the merits of the indications they can be the perfect homeopathic relief for tinnitus

1. Kali Mur- Top Grade Natural Medicine for Tinnitus
Kali Mur is used to treat tinnitus where there is an excessive buildup or discharge of mucus in the nose or throat area. A history of long-standing ear discharges (otorrhea) is also indicative of this medicine. Popping and crackling noises in the ear are typical, and the latter sounds get worse upon swallowing. Deafness from ear catarrh is also possible.

2. Natrum Salicylicum- For Vertigo and Tinnitus
Natrum Salicylicum is used to treat tinnitus that develops as a result of Meniere’s disease, where a triad of symptoms including noises in the ear, hearing loss, and vertigo appears. The sounds are low in tone and almost constant. Vertigo gets worse on sitting up or rising from bed and lying down provides relief. This is an excellent medicine for vertigo and tinnitus

3. Chenopodium Anthelminticum – For Tinnitus with Sudden spells of Vertigo
is used to treat tinnitus where there are sudden spells of vertigo. The person may be able to hear high pitched sounds but be deaf to human sounds. The noises in the ear in these cases are mainly buzzing, ringing or roaring in nature. Tinnitus synchronous with heartbeats is another feature indicating the need for this medicine.

4. Graphites Naturalis- For Ear Tinnitus when Hissing and Buzzing sounds are present
is used to treat cases of somatic tinnitus, where the symptoms of tinnitus worsen when there is a movement of the head and jaw. The noises in the ear are mainly hissing, buzzing, whistling or roaring in nature. In some cases, cracking sounds in the ears are present. A feeling of ‘stuffed ear’ and dryness in the ears also indicates the need for this medicine.

5. Chininum Sulph- For Ringing In Ear
is used in cases of tinnitus where intense sounds of varies kinds of ringing, roaring, and buzzing are present. Vertigo and a decline in the hearing ability also indicate the need for this medicine. In some cases, a severe headache may be present. Chininum Sulph is also used as an effective homeopathic remedy for Meniere’s disease.

Remedies For Specific Noises
Tinnitus can cause a person to hear different sounds within the ear, and these sounds vary from case to case. Among the many sounds that a person hears inside the ear as a result of tinnitus, the most common ones include buzzing, roaring, whistling, hissing, humming, chirping, drumming, flapping, fluttering, machine-like, waterfall-like, ringing sounds and sounds of the wind. There are specific remedies that are used to treat these sounds.

Petroleum Oleum is used to treat tinnitus where there are ringing noises in ears. There is clear bell-like sound in the ear. Other symptoms include dryness, intense itching deep in the ear. People who cannot tolerate the sound of several people talking together, and elderly persons dealing with deafness are often treated with this medicine.

Formica Rufa is used to treat tinnitus where buzzing noises in the ear are present. Pain in the ear and hardness of hearing are also common. The pain may radiate to the temporal region of the head. In most cases, earache gets worse in the morning, and the ears may feel hot and be sensitive to touch.

Salicylicum Acidum is used to treat tinnitus where there are roaring sounds in the ear. The hearing may be diminished, and the person may experience episodes of vertigo. Nausea and a sensation of blood rushing to the brain may also be present.
This medicine is also used to treat Meniere’s disease, tinnitus due to influenza and cases where tinnitus occurs as a result of consuming the drug ‘aspirin.’

Manganum Aceticum is used to treat tinnitus where whistling noises are heard within the ear. Other symptoms include hardness of hearing that gets worse in damp weather, an obstructed sensation in the ears and shooting pain that gets worse upon speaking or laughing.

Silicea is used to treat tinnitus where there are hissing sounds inside the ear. Other symptoms include a blocked sensation in the ear, shooting pain, hardness of hearing, sensitivity to cold air and presence of discharges. These discharges can be purulent (pus-like), blood-stained and may have a fetid odor. A history of a perforated ear-drum is also present in some cases.

China Officinalis is used to treat tinnitus where there are humming noises in the ear. These are accompanied by a stitching/tearing pain in the ears that worsens with touch. There may be overall weakness, debility, and headache. This medicine is also used in cases where a ticking noise is heard inside the ears.

Bryonia Alba is used to treat tinnitus with chirping noises inside the ear. The ear may feel blocked, intolerance towards noises in the environment may be present along with spells of vertigo.
A deep, stitching or shooting pain that gets worse in the open air may be present. The ear is usually sensitive to touch. This medicine works well to treat cases of tinnitus where a person hears a particular sound, like the pouring of water over a dam.

Lachesis Muta is used to treat where there are drumming sounds in the ear. A decrease in hearing along with excessive dryness and hardness of the ear wax is present. The ear is sensitive towards the wind. The ear may feel stiff, and pain may develop towards the evening or night time.

Antimonium Tart is used to treat tinnitus where there are fluttering or flapping noises in the ear. A prominent warm sensation inside the ear, twitching and tearing pain in the ear during the evening is also present.

Hydrastis Canadensis is used to treat tinnitus where there is a machinery-like sound inside the ear. There may be a thick mucus discharge from the ear, and a sensation of fullness in the in the forehead may also be present.

Causticum is used to treat tinnitus where a re-echo of words is heard in the ear. Other symptoms include a pulsating, burning sensation in the ear, pressure in the head and ears, and a purulent, gluey/sticky ear discharge along with an excessive accumulation of the ear wax is also present in some cases.

Theridion Curassavicum is used to treat tinnitus where there are noises of a waterfall present in the ear. The person also experiences sensitivity along with pressure and fullness in the ears.

Pulsatilla Nigricans is used to treat tinnitus where there are sounds of the wind inside the ear. Difficulty in hearing in cold and damp weather, earache, and chronic ear infection with a thick yellowish-greenish colored discharge indicate the need for this medicine.

Antimonium tartaricum
Obstinate cases, with Inclination to pustulation, are curable with this medicine.

Arsenicum album
When there is great burning and debility.

Arsenicum iodatum
Especially useful in severe obstinate cases. According to Dr. W.A. Dewey -Acne rosacea yields to Arsenicum Iodatum or Sulphur Iodide.

Arsenicum sulphuratum rubrum
Is indicated in acne when accompanied by eczema or psoriasis.

Asterias rubens
Is the head remedy for acne on the face at the age of puberty. " If it fails in that case follow Kali Brom and Radium Bro 30-J.N. Shinghal. "

Aurum arsenicum
Acne, pimples on the face and forehead, pustules. Lupus.

Belladonna
Acne punctata in young persons; bright red pimples; and in plethoric persons with scarlet flushings.

Berberis aquifolium
Pimples on the face of girls. It is especially useful where the skin is rough and the acne persists.

Borax veneta
Pimples on the face, nose and lips,; red papulous eruptions on cheeks.

Bovista lycoperdon
Acne due to the use of cosmetics, specially in summer.

Calcarea carbonica
When there are menstrual disorders and congestion to the head.

Calcarea phosphorica
Acne in anaemic girls at teenage years, with vertex headache and flatulent indigestion, relieved by eating.

Calcarea sulphurica
Being the chief blood purifier it proves an indispensable remedy in all stages of the disease. It is especially indicated where the acne suppurate.

Carbo vegetabilis
Varicose veins on nose or when the causative factor is the gastric derangement.

Causticum
It is of benefit in cases which have not been improved by Sulph., Hep. Sul. or Ars. Persons with old warts on the nose or eyebrow.

Dulcamara
Rash on the face before me**es.

Hepar sulphur
Pimples of the size of a pea in different area of the body, the least scratch or injury inclines to ulceration or gathering; styes on the eyelids.

Hydrocotyle asiatica
Especially useful when connected with uterine derangement. There is great dryness and desquamation of epidermis.

Kalium bromatum
This remedy is especially adapted to tha acne simplex and the indurata, especially in hyperaesthetic, anxious females, and in epileptics who have been badly treated by bromides. Dr. J.H. Clarke speakes high if this remedy and says, "I know of no remedy of such universal usefulness in case of simple acne as Kali Bromatum 30. " Similarly, Dr. E. Harris Ruddock says, " Kali-Brom. has great medicine over this affection and the medical Journals report cases in which log continued Acne has disappeared while this drug was being taken for other diseases.

Lachesis mutus
Bluish redness.

Ledum palustre
Red pimply eruptions on face and forehead.

Mercurius solubilis
Small itching pimples that ulcerate, dry up and desquamate; swollen spots on which a flat, grey scurf forms.

Nitricum acidum
Pimples on face in syphilitic subjects.

Petroleum
Especially useful at the commencement when the vessels are not yet injected.

Psorinum
Acne worse during me**es, from fats, sugar, coffee, meat.

Pulsatilla pratensis
Females with usually cold, pale face, menstrual irregularities.

Rhus toxicodendron
Red spots, the size of lentils, with vesicles in the centre; red shinning swellings, with soreness; they are tender to touch.

Sanguinaria canadensis
Acne on the face which is worse at the time of the me**es.

Sepia officinalis
Itching pimples; herpetic brownish spots on the body, attended with chilliness, sadness, scanty me**es and leucorrhoea.

Silicea terra
Obstinate cases, in scrofulous persons with aggravation from cold and amelioration from warmth; fetid sweat feet; constipation.

Streptococcinum
Acne, which is aggravated by taking eggs and during winter. Frontal headache, better by cold air.

Sulphur
Acne with blepharitis, from indulgence in high living or fat food. Great itchiness and bluish color of the face. According to Rai Bahadur Dr. Bishambar Das, "this medecine should be given in 200th potency to get better results".

Thuja occidentalis
Acne of the face and nose and nasal dermatitis (inflammation of the skin).

Lauren was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of two.
Her parents, concerned about the strength and side-effects of conventional drugs, took her to see a homeopath. With treatment, the disease and swelling in her fingers settled.
At physiotherapy Lauren noticed she was doing better than the other children with rheumatoid arthritis who were still being treated with the strong drugs she had avoided – she had lots of energy while the medications they took seemed to make them slower.
Homoeopathy didn’t cure Lauren’s disease but confined it to those initial four joints. During her high school years, Lauren says it was as if the rheumatoid arthritis had gone.
On going to college, the rheumatoid arthritis flared again. This time, instead of treating it with homeopathy as her parents had, Lauren decided to use conventional treatment.
Within 10 months, her liver was damaged, the arthritis had spread from four joints to every joint in her body, her hair had fallen out and she was in a wheelchair.
At that point, Lauren decided to go back to homoeopathy and was treated by doctors and nurses at the The Royal London Hospital of Integrated Medicine.
Lauren’s rheumatologist was shocked by her improvement. When a bone density scan revealed that her bones were much stronger than they should have been for her disease, he advised her to continue with homeopathic treatment even though he himself didn’t practice it.
What Does This Video Tell Us?
Lauren’s experience clearly shows the differences between conventional (allopathic) and homeopathic treatment.

When the body is unwell, it’s symptoms produce a picture for the observant person of how it is trying to heal.

When a medicine is given that mimics those symptoms and so supports its efforts, real gains are achieved achieved. This is the benefit of the ‘like treat like’ approach of homeopathy, and this is what happened when Lauren’s parents first took her to a homeopath.

In contrast, conventional medicines are terrific at suppressing symptoms but work against what the body is trying to achieve. The cost of their ongoing suppression is deteriorating health and the risk of dangerous side-effects – true healing never takes place.

Fortunately for Lauren, recovery was still possible.
