Today was one of those moments that truly fills my heart as a pediatrician. A lovely little patient of mine—sweet, cheerful, always full of giggles—and their kind parents came in for a goodbye visit before they move back to their hometown due to a work transfer.
Before leaving, they surprised me with a gift—a badminton bat. As someone who absolutely loves the sport, I was touched beyond words. It’s not just a thoughtful gift, but one that reflects how deeply they remembered what makes me happy beyond the clinic.
More than anything, their words stayed with me: “We’re not fully happy about moving… we’ll miss our pediatrician in Chennai.” That simple sentiment means everything.
In a world that often feels rushed and transactional, it’s moments like these that remind me why I chose this path. It’s not just about treating fevers and rashes—it’s about building trust, watching little ones grow, and being a part of a family’s journey, even if for a short while.
Feeling incredibly grateful today—for the gift, the trust, and for families who still carry kindness so effortlessly. Being a pediatrician is more than a profession—it’s a privilege.
