Many people I meet express frustration about their inability to lose weight despite trying multiple methods, leaving them feeling stuck. Rather than blaming genetics, it is necessary to scrutinize one's daily habits, including sleep quality, stress levels, food choices, physical activity, and hydration. Sustainable weight loss is often hindered by factors beyond diet, such as poor sleep, inadequate exercise, insufficient protein, and chronic stress.

As 2025 draws to a close and many of us begin making resolutions and plans for the upcoming year, adhering to these commitments can be challenging. Let us initiate 2026 with a focus on cultivating healthy habits that can be sustained.
Several simple steps can be incorporated into daily life.
Let's 's commence with a daily dose of
*SUNSHINE: 🌞 - a natural immunity booster that enhances mood, improves sleep quality, and benefits the skin and vitamin D levels, with numerous positive effects.
*WALKING🚶‍♀️: We are all aware that walking is a highly beneficial activity - excellent for the heart, bones, and metabolism, while boosting energy levels and improving sleep quality. Research has proven that walking for 10 minutes after meals can improve blood sugar levels and prevent glucose surges, serving as an effective tool in managing diabetes.
* MINDFUL EATING🍏🍴 : Be mindful of your food intake and portion sizes. Eat only until you are 80% full. *Chew your food thoroughly, as digestion begins in the mouth and proper chewing aids the process, reducing bloating.
*Savor each bite and appreciate the flavors.
*Avoid rushing while eating; mealtime should be a calming ritual.
*Regularly incorporate fermented foods and probiotics into your diet.
*PRIORITIZE SLEEP😴🛌: Give sleep the importance it deserves this year. *Sleep is considered the best medicine.
*It strengthens immunity, improves productivity, and enhances mood, with numerous benefits.
* BE GRATEFUL☺️: Cultivating gratitude is a happiness booster. *It shifts our focus to the positive and helps us appreciate what we have.
*Gratitude improves mental health by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, while increasing self-esteem.
*It also strengthens relationships.
*READING📚📖: Reading is an exercise for the mind. Try to read a book of your choice, at least 5 pages, and note that reading before sleep can establish a better sleep routine than focusing on gadgets, as it signals the brain to slow down and relax the mind.
These habits are not daunting tasks that require significant effort. Simply be mindful in a busy world and keep moving. May you bask in the sunshine, may your days be filled with energy and gratitude, and may your nights be restful. Cheers to a fantastic 2026 🎉💫🌟🎊👏💖 Grateful

December - Constipation awareness month :

How many of you knew that December is the month for Awareness about Constipation! I was wondering why December is selected !!!What I feel the reason behind this is .. December being a cold month ..many people who other wise did regular exercise also don't do it often because of the weather . December is the month of get togethers. late night parties and eating out with family and friends. Being a cold month the water intake also would reduce .All these factors contribute to Constipation..so choosing December as Constipation awareness month is relatable.
What is constipation: When a person passes less than 3 bowel movements per week and have Difficulty passing the hard stools
Symptoms :Gas formation, Bloating , Bad breath , Pain while passing stools , Lack of appetite
Causative factors : Lack of fibre in diet,More intake of processed foods ,Reduced intake of water , More protein/ non vegetarian foods , Lack of a routine , Lack of physical activity, underlying diseases like Hypothyroidism,IBS , Parkinson's disease, Piles or fissures , certain medications, Anxiety ,stress playing havoc with the gut function etc
Impact of Chronic Constipation:
• Straining during the bowel movements can worsen haemorrhoids, anal fissures
• Prolonged retention of faeces in the intestine can lead to reabsorption if the toxins present in the stools
• Harmful bacterial overgrowth in the gut
• Raises the risk of colorectal cancer
Management:.
Simple lifestyle changes can reduce the effects of Constipation
• Regular toilet routine
• Increased fibre intake
• More water intake if you are drinking less
• Regular physical activity

Many people still consider talking about Constipation uncomfortable.Be open about the problems you face with your doctor and learn how to manage it , because it is very easy to address it once we know what mistakes we are doing and learn the correct ways to reverse them.

What you need to know about ULTRA PROCESSED FOODS:

How to tell if a food is Ultra processed !
# If an item has more than 5 ingredients or if it has ingredients that you don't find in a kitchen usually - like emulsifiers, colourings , flavour enhancers, bulking agents ,gels, then it's Ultra processed.
Food is classified into 4 categories :
#1- Processed culinary ingredients - Include sugar, honey ,maple syrup, vegetable oil, butter and vinegar
#2- Unprocessed or Minimally processed - Fruits , vegetables,beans, nuts,seeds ,eggs ,meat ,poultry,pasta,yogurt ( plain)
#3- Processed foods - Salted nuts , Cured meat, Canned veggies , fish, cheese, bread etc
#4- Ultra processed foods - Potato chips, soft drinks ,instant noodles and candy bars
HOW DO THEY INCREASE YOUR DISEASE RISK :
In many studies there was a significant link between UPF consumption and one or more chronic disease
Type 2 DM- 25%
Depression -23%
Obesity -21%
Heart disease -20%
Ultra processed foods may be convenient, but they are not worthy compromising our health.Being aware of the ingredients, making informed choices and opting for whole foods whenever possible,we can take control.
As the saying goes," You are what you eat" - let's choose wisely and eat to thrive, not to survive .
