Happy to share that, Menicon has launched affordable Ortho k lenses in India and EYEFUL OPTOMETRY CLINIC is one of the very few practise to have the trial set from Menicon!

Many thanks to the Menicon team, especially Ms. Anjali Ahuja and Mr. Ajay Saha for arranging the practitioners meet which was very informative! The discussions were very interesting. Nice to get connected with Ms. Jess Ooi from Menicon, Malaysia and exchange ideas of fitting ortho k lenses!

Orthokeratology is a wonderful non-surgical technology in which specially designed lens is worn at night during sleep corrects the spectacle power and without spectacles one can have clear vision during waking hours.

The best part about orthokeratology is, it controls power progression, I.e the spectacle number increase is arrested and with improvement in design and materials in this technology, it is very safe for children if properly fit and followed up!

Menicon is known for its quality in making lenses and I'm happy to add 'Alpha Ortho K' trial set from Menicon in my trial set library!

I'm happy to share that I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Kate gifford and Dr. Paul Gifford Founders and Directors Myopia Profile on 'EVIDENCE TO ACTION - MYOPIA HANDS ON WORKSHOP' conducted by Confederation of India in association with Sankara Eye Hospital, Banglore.

During my early days when I started myopia management, the course, 'Myopia Management in Pratice' from Myopia Profile (The certificate was dated on 24/10/2020) was helping a lot in understanding the binocular vision aspects of myopia management which I incorporate in my practice till date.

5 years from the certification date, I had again an opportunity to listen to Dr. Kate and Dr. Paul in person. Thanks to Dr. Kate and Paul for offering the free coupons to access the advanced course on Myopia Profile and thanks to OCI, for giving this wonderful opportunity to learn and interact with the experts and selecting me as one among 5 for the coupons!

Happy to share that my scientific poster, “Troubleshooting Rotation of Channels in a Scleral Lens Fitting,” was presented at the ESO's International Vision Science and Optometry Conference, EIVOC 2025! 🎉

The fitting of over anatomical obstacle is difficult. Channels are scalloped paths provided in the inner side of scleral lens to facilitate fits over anatomical obstacles, promote tear exchange, and reduce suction. To achieve proper positioning of the channel, the lens should be rotational stable fit with aligned peripheral haptics.

This case report poster presentation addresses a key challenge I encountered in a scleral lens fitting — channel rotation (swapping) — and outlines practical solution we adopted to achieve the desired fiiting.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to discuss, question, and collaborate! Thanks to Jain Soni for proof reading the poster.

My contact lens poster and paper presentations started during my college days when we had contest in the "ACUVUE DAY" (2006). I remember that I had been judged by Ms. Lakshmi Shinde on that day regarding a "Model potraying Xchrome Lens"! EIVOC 2025, I had privilege of presenting the poster to the same judge!

Attaching the poster shot for interested upcoming optometrists and scleral lens specialists!

👁️💡 MYTH BUSTER: Can Contact Lenses Get Lost Behind Your Eye? 💡👁️

🚫 MYTH: "Contact lenses can get lost behind your eye."

✅ FACT: It's physically impossible for a contact lens to get lost behind your eye. Your eye is protected by a thin membrane called the conjunctiva, which covers the white part of your eye and connects to the inside of your eyelids—creating a natural barrier. So, there's no way for a lens to slip behind and disappear!

🔍 If your lens seems "missing":

It may be stuck under your eyelid.

It might have fallen out without you noticing.

Or it could be dried out and folded in your eye.

💧 Keep your eyes lubricated, and if you're unsure where your lens is, wash your hands and gently check or consult your eye care professional.

👀 Stay informed. Protect your vision. Don't let myths cloud your eyes!

✨ Struggling with Digital Eye Strain, Glare & Photosensitivity? You’re Not Alone.

At Eyeful Optometry Clinic, we specialize in uncovering what others often miss.

📌 A 38-year-old patient came to us after years of frustration—battling digital eye strain, intense glare, and photosensitivity especially at near-work . Multiple eye tests, no solutions. Until now.

✅ After a comprehensive eye exam including binocular vision assessment, refraction, and fundus evaluation, we identified uncorrected +0.75D hyperopia.
But we didn’t stop there.

🔍 We tested various optical filters, and the patient found instant relief with a 5% blue transmission filter—a high-grade optical solution not available over-the-counter. Paired with anti-fatigue lenses, the results were clear:

💡 Improved vision for both near and distance
💡 Significantly reduced eye strain
💡 Enhanced comfort for prolonged screen use
💡 Finally—lasting relief and satisfaction

🎯 Unlike regular "blue block" lenses (which filter blue light entirely and leave a yellow tint), our 5% blue filter transmits a small portion of blue light, maintaining true-to-life colour with a subtle blue hue for optimal comfort.

👁️ Why Choose Eyeful Optometry Clinic?
🔹 Tailored optical solutions
🔹 Advanced diagnostic approach
🔹 Premium filters & anti-fatigue lenses
🔹 Real results that change lives

Happy to share that I was part of an inspiring panel discussion at ESO's INTERNATIONAL VISION RESEARCH AND OPTOMETRY CONFERENCE, 'EIVOC 2025' titled:

“Start, Sustain, and Succeed – Independent Practice for Women” ✨

It was a powerful conversation filled with honest reflections, practical strategies, and shared experiences about navigating independent practice as women professionals. From taking the first step to sustaining momentum and finding success on our own terms — it was all on the table. 🙌

Grateful to be alongside such incredible private practitioners who are not just shaping their own paths but also uplifting others along the way. 💪💬

Thanks to Kumaran Sir, Trinity Optics Kumaran R for moderating the session with such insight and empathy. He skillfully covered every aspect of independent practice — thoughtfully stepping into the shoes of women practitioners and creating space for meaningful dialogue. 🙏

EYE CARE ELITE AWARD |

I’m humbled and incredibly happy to share that I’ve been awarded the ‘Eye Care Elite Award’ at ESO’s International Vision Research and Optometry Conference (EIVOC 2025)—one of the most prestigious platforms in the field of optometry.

This is more than just a professional milestone for me—it’s a deeply emotional moment.

As I reflect on this journey, I realize how many people have stood beside and behind me, believing in me, pushing me forward, and never letting me give up.

Like many, optometry has not come into my life by chance. I chose to be an Optometrist! And that choice was made possible because of the unwavering support of my loved ones.

To my parents, Mr. Sampathkumar B N umar B N and Mrs. Parvathy Sampath Kumar—thank you for never forcing me into a path I didn’t want. When I told you I wanted to open my own practice at 23, you supported me, even though no one in our family had an optical background—and even when societal expectations leaned towards marriage instead of entrepreneurship.

To my husband, Mr. Ananthachari Muralidharan—thank you for saying “yes” 15 years ago when I made it clear that I would never leave India because of my practice. You’ve stood by me through everything—especially during the COVID crisis, when business was struggling. Your words, “You are vera level because you’re the one and only Savita,” have carried me through the toughest days. And our daughter Nithicka, echoing your belief in me, means the world.

To my dearest —my friends, my soul tribe—thank you for being there unconditionally, always cheering me on without ever asking for anything in return. I’m beyond blessed to have you.

To the mentors, colleagues, and well-wishers who shaped my path:

Ms. Viji – You went out of your way even before I graduated, connecting me with the right people to start my journey.

Rahjee Muthukumaran – For encouraging me to return to my hometown and build something of my own.

Ms. Kowsalya Raghu – For challenging and refining my clinical skills early on.

Dr. Saranya Sachi Balasubramaniam & Dr. Ramesh S Ve – You gave me a vision beyond just an optical outlet; you planted the seeds for a true clinic
