Joint Pains and Knee Arthritis on the Rise in India: Exploring Causes and Regenerative Treatments in Chennai

A community-based cross-sectional study reported a prevalence of knee osteoarthritis (OA) at 28.7%, making it a leading cause of disability and economic burden in the country . Factors contributing to this surge include an aging population, sedentary lifestyles, obesity, and the coexistence of conditions like type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), which increases susceptibility to knee OA .
In response to this growing health concern, regenerative therapies such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet-Rich Stroma (PRS) treatments are emerging as promising alternatives to traditional surgical interventions. These orthobiologic treatments focus on harnessing the body's natural healing processes to alleviate pain and improve joint function.
