In India, the science of psychology although a century old, the volume of research is not comparable to the amount of research conducted in developed countries, therefore, the exposure towards psychology had always been limited until recent times. The word Mental Health itself seemed to create a dilemma, where, people are misled or misguided to believe that psychologists only treat special people and lunatics. Today, psychology as a science has proven to help people to nurture their mind in a positive way to enhance their lifestyle and improve their mental wellness. The STEPS FOUNDATIONS
We concentrate on the future of the nation mainly children, applying our best psychological knowledge to create practical programs and counseling in order to help children become confident, and productive adults. We also, help to balance and enhance the biopsychosocial aspects of the people via counseling. Another main motive behind STEPS FOUNDATIONS is to “Bring Psychology to Life”, spread the word and to create awareness on psychology among the mass public on a healthy and positive dimension, and also to ignite the passion among psychology students towards the science and its effective practical implication in homes, schools, workplaces and communities. With the primary aim to help children and adolescents recognize, understand and manage various psychological aspects in their lives, we also concentrate in making parents, teachers and caretakers become more aware of children’s ongoing needs through counseling, to enhance their resilience and build healthy, strong, positive future. We minimize the barriers and maximize access towards the psychological wellness of children as well as adults through counseling. Goals – Children & School:
Stress faced by children in school:
Children are often under more stress than what we may think, all the different demands and expectations to achieve academically, socially and in extra-curricular activities can sometimes be overwhelming. Stress related problems affect their academic performance in school, their social and mental wellness. Excessive stress can have a dramatic effect on learning and social development. It can interfere with functions such as attention, memory, organization and integration, which over time, can damage the brain. STEPS actively strives to develop school-based programs and counseling to help teachers, caretakers, psychologists and parents to promote positive social-emotional-psychological development and effective stress management in classrooms as individual and group counseling.
