Fixed partial dentures are a great way of replacing missing teeth. They take the support of adjacent teeth to help create a and replace the lost teeth. 55 yesr young gentleman came to us with a specific request in his lower front teeth region wherein he had replaced 2 missing teeth many years back but there was a space now below the bridge and food retention, oral malodour was present. We decided to go for a bridge so as to allow for better gingival adaptation around the prosthesis. Following a traumatic extraction of the old bridge, the gums were healing nicely and we planned for a digital impression to not disturb the healing gums. Now the gums will heal neatly around the zirconia and the patient's chief concern is fully addressed.

Maxillary wisdom teeth take the crown (pun intended) for unpredictable root anatomy. The OPG looks harmless enough but the reality is miles away from expectation. Always thankful when such flared out roots come out en masse and the procedure ends well. This could also be the universe heralding the weekend by making me see clown hats in extracted teeth

The proportion of tooth loss in the elderly has steadily declined over the years due to increased dental awareness and access to treatment. But then we come across some patients with multiple missing teeth and hopeless prognosis for the remaining dentition. Complete dentures provide a new lease of life for these senior citizens in terms of function and esthetics. The conventional removable dentures do not require extensive surgical procedures and they are highly cost effective also.

Interesting case from last month - late
22 year young male patient came in with a missing crown and mutilated tooth i.r.t. #46 region. To add perspective, we had worked on this tooth 6 years back wherein root canal therapy was performed followed by a screw post and a full metal crown was placed when the patient was a minor. The patient reported that the crown had dislodged over a year back. The screw post was fractured and secondary caries had developed. Supraeruption of #16 was also evident. However, the seemed intact with no signs or symptoms of infection. The fractured post was retrieved successfully and a custom cast post was fabricated; the tooth was restored with a crown. In this case, I give thanks and add a special mention of my mentors who motivated me to take up doing custom restorations and cast posts. It's fun working on such cases and it works out to the patient's benefit also.

Wisdom teeth anatomy is always intriguing. We never know what to expect in most cases. 26 year young patient presented with caries in tooth #18 . He was unable to access the tooth properly and oral hygiene maintenance was not optimal. He opted to get the tooth extracted for ease of maintenance. revealed an altered anatomy with multiple overlapping roots (?!?!?) and the tooth presented with 4 roots. Scientific literature reports that 4 rooted maxillary third molars occur in roughly 0.4 - 7% of individuals worldwide.

38 year young patient presented with this specific esthetic concern. Tooth #11 had been endodontically treated during presentation but the crown placement had been deferred due to a near perfect natural contour and esthetics at that point of time. Tooth discoloration is an unpleasant after effect of root canal therapy. crowns provide the desired esthetic finish along with strength and durability for patient comfort and satisfaction.
