DAY 6 | Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2025
Theme: Small Germs, Big Lessons

Meet Funo the Fungus 🍄 (not the mushroom kind!)
He grows wherever skin stays sweaty, damp, or covered in tight clothes for long hours.
Sharing towels or not drying the skin properly gives him an easy entry.

The good news is simple:
âś” Keep skin dry
âś” Use cotton clothes
âś” Avoid sharing towels
âś” Use antifungals only when advised

Fungal infections are treatable — but hygiene keeps them from coming back.

Today’s reminder:
Small daily habits protect children and reduce unnecessary medicine use.

Protect medicines today, so they protect us tomorrow.

DAY 5 | Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2025
Small Germs, Big Lessons

Meet Wiggly the Worm 🪱
He loves dirty nails, unwashed hands after play, and contaminated food.
That’s how worm infections quietly enter a child’s body.

But the good news is simple:
👉 Deworming works
👉 Good hygiene prevents reinfection

Most worm infections can be prevented with very basic habits:
âś” Keep nails short
âś” Wash hands after play and before eating
âś” Wash vegetables well
âś” Drink safe, clean water

Let’s protect medicines today, so they protect us tomorrow.

DAY 6 | Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2025

Meet Ami the Amoeba 🟢
Ami sneaks in through unwashed hands, unclean vegetables, and unsafe water.
One simple habit keeps Ami away — clean hands and clean food.

Most amoebic infections start from poor hygiene, not bad luck.

Today’s message:
đź’ˇ Wash hands before eating, wash vegetables well, and drink safe water.
These small habits prevent big illnesses.

Let’s protect medicines today, so they protect us tomorrow.

DAY 2 | Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2025
Small Germs, Big Lessons

Meet Amoxi the Antibiotic đź’Š
Once a superhero, now forced into early retirement…
simply because we used him for every sneeze and stopped the course halfway.

Every time antibiotics are misused —
âś” taken for viral infections
✔ taken “just in case”
âś” stopped midway
we make germs stronger and medicines weaker.

Today’s message:
đź’ˇ If an antibiotic is prescribed, take the correct dose and complete the full course.

Stopping halfway is one of the fastest ways to create resistance.

DAY 1 | Antimicrobial Awareness Week (Nov 18–24)
Small Germs. Big Lessons.

Meet Golu the Germ 👾
Every time antibiotics are taken for a cold or viral fever, Golu becomes stronger — and harder to kill.
That’s how resistance starts.

Most coughs, colds, and fevers in children are viral, and antibiotics don’t work on viruses.
Using them “just to be safe” only makes germs like Golu smarter.

Today’s message:
💡 Don’t use antibiotics for viral infections.
Always ask: “Doctor, is this bacterial?”

Let’s protect medicines today, so they protect us tomorrow.

As part of Antimicrobial Awareness Week (Nov 18–24), here is a simple guide on what AMR is, why it affects every family, and the steps we can take to protect our children and our future.

🎙️ Smrthi Health Care on Rainbow FM 101.4 MHz

Our Director, Dr. Subramanian Sethuraman, who also serves as the Secretary of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics – Chennai City Branch (IAPCCB), recently participated in a live Tamil radio conversation on All India Radio’s Rainbow FM (101.4 MHz) with RJ Triveda.

The one-hour session focused on practical aspects of newborn and infant care, including:
• The importance of breastfeeding in the early months
• When and how to introduce complementary feeds
• Common myths and community practices in newborn care

The discussion was held in colloquial Tamil with simple English expressions to reach families in an accessible, everyday language.

At Smrthi Health Care, we believe that sharing scientific information in a way families can understand is key to promoting healthy beginnings for every child.
