๐งช What Are Antibiotics?
Antibiotics are medicines that kill or stop the growth of bacteria.
They do NOT work against viruses, fungi, or parasites.
๐ฅ Who Needs Antibiotics?

1. People with bacterial infections such as:
Pneumonia (bacterial)
Urinary tract infections (UTI)
Skin infections / cellulitis
Strep throat (caused by bacteria)
Typhoid fever
Certain ear and sinus infections
Severe wound infections
These conditions need antibiotics, especially when confirmed by doctors through tests or symptoms.
โ Who does NOT need antibiotics?
Antibiotics should NOT be used for:
Common cold ๐คง
Flu (influenza)
Viral fever
COVID-19
Most sore throats
Most coughs
Most diarrhoea (unless bacterial)
These are viral infections โ antibiotics will not cure them.
๐ฉบ When should you see a doctor for antibiotics?
High fever lasting more than 3 days
Pus-forming infections
Severe throat pain with fever
Painful urination (possible UTI)
Wounds that look red, swollen, warm, or oozing
Breathing difficulty with cough and fever
A doctor will confirm if itโs bacterial and prescribe the right antibiotic.
