"NAMMA SCHOOL, NAMMA OORU PALLI"

A mega camp was initiated by Tamil Nadu Government's "Namma school, Namma Ooru Palli" scheme, jointly with RVS Dental College & Hospital, Propel company and MAC NGO
This mega camp was carried out for 6months to cover more than 16000 students of 80 schools, to improve their oral health. Final event of this mega camp had taken place at Government Girls High School, Sulur, on 8th September 2025.
Minister for school education. Thiru. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Collector of Coimbatore. Thiru. Pavankumar.G.Giriyappanavar, Deputy collector and Chief Educational Officer of coimbatore has attended and graced the occasion.
The event was organized by RVS Dental College & Hospital. Minister for school education felicitated our chairman Mr.K.V.Kuppusamy, our principal Dr. V.K.Vijay, Our Department heads - Dr. Nagendran.J -Department of peododntics, Dr.Umesh-Department of Public Health Dentistry and all the doctors who have extended their contribution in successfully completing this mega camp. The minister also extended appreciation to all the headmasters of 80 schools.
The mega camp concluded successfully by screening over 700 students and completing 80 treatments on this particular day, marking a significant step in promoting oral health.

INTERDISCIPLINARY MEET

The Department of Pediatrics and preventive dentistry conducted an interdisciplinary meet at Shri. Padmavathy ammal memorial auditorium on 3rd September 2025. Postgraduates and interns made a presentation on the topic "LIQUID GOLD", where knowledge regarding significance of lactation, influence of breast feeding in oro-facial development and suitable alternatives for breast feeding was shared. An insight on the human milk bank, its functioning and the active human milk banks of coimbatore city.

INTERDISCIPLINARY MEET REPORT
TOPIC : HEMATOLOGICAL CONSIDERATION IN ORAL & MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY: BLEEDING DISORDER AND ANTICOAGULANTS
On 23.07.2025, the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Pharmacology jointly conducted an interdisciplinary meeting at the Shri Padmavathy Ammal Memorial Auditorium, where the postgraduate students and interns presented on “Haematological Considerations in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: Bleeding Disorders and Anticoagulants.” The program covered haemostasis, relevant laboratory investigations, bleeding disorders, and the pharmacology of antiplatelet and anticoagulant drugs, along with their clinical implications in OMFS. Postgraduates discussed patient management strategies, including dental considerations and bleeding control measures, integrating both surgical and pharmacological perspectives. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, enhancing participants’ practical understanding of safe surgical care for patients with bleeding risks.

CLINICAL SOCIETY MEETING – REPORT

The Department of Orthodontics and dentofacial Orthopaedics held a Clinical Society Meeting on 08/09/2025 at Smt . Padmavathy Ammal Auditorium. It was conducted on the topic ‘FROM PROGNATHISM TO PROGRESS: THE JOURNEY OF CLASS III’ which included insights about the ‘Class III malocclusion,it’s treatment strategies and reports of class III cases treated by the Dept. of Ortho,RVS Dental college and Hospital. It was presented by the II year Post Graduate students of Dept. of Ortho. The meeting was started at 2pm. A total 164 student & staff members attended the meeting. The meeting proceeded with the Presentation, a questionnaire session and certificate felicitation and lasted until 3.20 pm.

Induction Program for First-Year Postgraduate Students at RVS Dental College & Hospital

The Induction Program for the First-Year Postgraduate Students of RVS Dental College & Hospital was held on 3rd September 2025 at the Smt. Padmavathy Ammal Memorial Auditorium. The event marked the commencement of the academic journey for the fresh batch of postgraduate students, warmly welcoming them into the realm of advanced dental education.
The program began with a cordial welcome address by Dr. Vijay V.K., Director-cum-Principal, who expressed his delight in receiving the new entrants. He emphasized the values of commitment, discipline, and perseverance as essential qualities for excelling in postgraduate studies. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom.
Subsequently, the Heads of Departments introduced the faculty members and elaborated on the vision and mission of their respective departments. The new students were oriented about the academic curriculum, research opportunities, and the significance of interdisciplinary learning.
In a special interactive session, the new postgraduates introduced themselves, sharing their aspirations and motivations, which created an atmosphere of inspiration, bonding, and camaraderie.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Priyadharsana P.S., who acknowledged the presence and support of the parents, dignitaries, organizing committee, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students.
The Induction Program was not only a formal orientation but also an inspiring beginning, reminding the students of their responsibilities as future specialists and the promising opportunities awaiting them in their academic journey.

ANTI RAGGING DAY PROGRAM 2025
In accordance with the DENTAL COUNCIL OF INDIA, NEW DELHI guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and in our continued commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment among students our institution organizedANTI RAGGING DAYprogramme on 12/08/2025 around 2.30 pm at SMT.PadmavathiAmmalMemorial Auditorium.
This day is observed annually to raise awareness about the harmful effects of ragging and to reaffirm our zero-tolerance policy against any form of harassment or intimidation on campus. Ragging, in any form, is not only a violation of institutional discipline but also a criminal offense under law.
The programme aims to sensitize students, faculty, and staff about the ethical, psychological, and legal implications of ragging. It also serves to promote healthy peer relationships, mutual respect, and a culture of support among students.

With the blessings of Vidyashree, KalvithanthaiDr.K.V. KUPPUSAMY AYYA, Chairman, RVS Group of institutions, the programme begun with awarm welcome address by Principal cm Director Dr.Vijay.V.K, who highlighted the importance of building a ragging-free campus and ensuring that every student feels safe and supported. The Principal emphasized the institution’s zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and urged students to be proactive in reporting any incidents.
The event was further graced by the presence of our Chief Guest and Speaker of the Day, Mr. L. Kandaswamy, B.Sc., M.A., Inspector of Police,Race course police station,coimbatore, who delivered a powerful and enlightening talk. Drawing from his experience in law enforcement, Mr. Kandaswamy educated students about the legal implications of ragging under Indian law, shared real-life case examples, and encouraged students to be responsible citizens. His speech was both impactful and inspiring, reinforcing the message that ragging is not a prank, but a punishable offense that can have lifelong consequences.
The event also featured interactive sessions and an anti-ragging pledge, where students and faculty came together to promise their support for a safe and harmonious campus. The collective commitment to upholding dignity and respect echoed throughout the programme.
The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Palaniyappan.K, BPT, M.Sc., who expressed gratitude to the Principal, the guest speaker, faculty members, organizing team, and all students for their active participation and support in making the programme impactful and meaningful.
Followed by ANTI RAGGING WEEK from 12.08.2025 to 18.08.2025were conducted with various anti ragging awareness events like Essay writing, Slogan writing, Logo making, E-Poster, Photography and Reels competition. Students were actively participated in all the events. Winners were awarded by certificates and prizes to encourage the students.

SCHOOL DENTAL CAMP @ – MNC School

The Department of Pediatric and Preventive dentistry integrated with the Department of Public health dentistry from RVS Dental College & Hospital conducted a school dental camp at matriculation Higher Secondary school. Oral health talk was given followed by Dental screening was performed for 1221 students and 30 staff by a team of 25 trainees. All the students and staff members were explained about the prevention protocol.
