Saadhya's pandemic diary is filled with events. The August month of 2020 was overflowing with festivals and we loved celebrating all of them. In fact, the festivity began on the 3rd and went all the way to the end of August.
It all started with Bakrid on the 3rd of August. Our kids wished each other, Rasheed and his mom Majida had prepared sweet.
The next day, on 4th, we celebrated Rakhee, to assure their strong support to each other. They had prepared organic Rakhee using grains and pulses which was tied to their near and dear one and exchanged gifts.
On the 11th it was Krishnashtami. Children dressed up like Radhe and Krishna. They made sweet awal. A delicious dish which is believed to be Krishna's favourite.
On 15th we celebrated Independence Day showcasing patriotism. Children made our national flag with kolam powder, they made delicious and nutritious tricoloured Dosa. We sang the national anthem.
On 21st we celebrated Ganesha chathurthi. Children wore traditional dress made mouse puppets and sweet modaka, a favourite dish of Lord Ganesha.
On 28th we celebrated Onam. Children made beautiful pookolam and unni appam, a delicious kerala dish. Children sang and danced around the kolam.
We felt that the month of August quickly passed by and it was filled with joy, celebrations and it gave lots and lots of exposure to our kids and enhanced their skills. We could bring out a series of hidden talent from parents especially Mothers.
We are eagerly awaiting the next celebrations in the coming months of 2020.
The pandemic has taught us a lot of new lessons. We learnt how we can be united and virtually celebrate and continue our work without missing anything. I congratulate all the teachers, parents and children who involved themselves in every activity that was suggested.
Thank you all.
