"But my children are taught to respect", you might say. In most of our homes, culturally, respect is rooted in fear. Our children are taught to "respect" out of fear of many things. Seldom do we teach them respect as an inherent responsibility, and nothing else. And it doesn't begin if we don't practise it. May it be the words we use or the actions that speak, children don't cease to watch us. So, let us be respectful towards each other and our children, thus planting the seeds for a much better tomorrow.
