We recently hosted an immersive learning experience that brought together the residents of Silvernest Senior Living and the students of Psychology from Kumaraguru College (KCLAS), Coimbatore. This collaborative initiative was part of a thoughtfully designed three-day program aimed at equipping students with the skills to conduct effective, meaningful activity sessions in assisted living settings.
The session was custom-made and interactive, carefully structured to foster authentic engagement between generations. Through guided conversations, structured activities, and reflective exercises, the program emphasized cognitive stimulation, emotional connection, and purposeful participation for the residents.
Beyond being an academic exercise, the interaction served as a live experiential platform—allowing students to understand the nuances of ageing, communication sensitivity, and adaptive engagement strategies. For our residents, it offered a refreshing avenue for social connection, intellectual engagement, and psychological enrichment.
Such initiatives reinforce the importance of integrating structured cognitive and psychosocial interventions within assisted living environments, ensuring that elder care extends beyond physical health to encompass emotional well-being and lifelong learning.
