Coimbatore Kidney Centre is a very active renal transplant centre. Approximately 100 renal transplants are done every year. Till now more than 1000 transplants have been done. To provide special intensive outpatient care to patients undergoing renal transplantation treatment, a Renal Transplant Clinic has been organized. This clilnic is headed by Dr.K.S.Ramalingam, M.D., Nephrologist. All the members of transplant team attend the clinic.

Chronic Kidney Disease Prevention

Reduction of high blood pressure -the lower the blood pressure
(within the normal range) , the slower the GFR decline

Specific medications to reduce proteinuria as well as lower blood pressure –

Angiotensin Converting Enzyme inhibitors (ACE inhibitors) or Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARBs)

Control of glucose, blood lipids and anemia.

Reduce salt intake to lower blood pressure.

Increase of physical activity.

Control of body weight.

Smoking cessation.

Steroid Free Kidney Transplantation:

During the last 8 weeks we have successfully done kidney transplantation for 9 patients without using STEROID.

All are well. This is a major step forward for patients as complications of steroid are avoided.
