AS an OT, I meet many caregivers who carry silent guilt, endless questions, and overwhelming pressure to "fix" what isn't broken.
⁃ Meltdowns? Not your fault.
‐Slow progress? Not a failure.

When do you think is the right time? Is it now? Or are you thinking of waiting another 6 months or even a year?? Take a look at what milestones your child should achieve at different ages. Based on the red flags, you can consult us about any concerns that you are having and we will guide you regarding your child's Speech and Language status & if or not your child needs therapy:
1. By 12-18 months : If your child hasn't started babbling or making attempts to communicate (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2019).
2. By 18-24 months 3: If your child has fewer than 20 words and doesn't combine two words together (National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, 2017).
3. By 2-3 years &: If your child's language development is delayed or shows signs of visible struggle while forming words, slow/laboured speech, or stuttering (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2020).
4. By 3-4 years : Showing difficulty articulating sounds correctly. Speech therapy can help with persistent difficulties (ASHA, 2020).
5. When you notice red flags " : Such as difficulty understanding simple directions, trouble initiating or maintaining conversations, or avoiding communication (The Hanen Centre, 2020).

Brain Gym is a series of physical exercises that have a positive impact on neurological processes of the brain and helps individuals meet their fullest potential.
The different movement patterns of Brain Gym Activities stimulate different parts of the brain. Various kinds of exercises are available, ranging from simple to complex. Each movement pattern focuses on different learning outcomes. Therapists choose which movement patterns to administer to clients based on their assessment. A common movement pattern is the cross crawl. This movement pattern strengthens the left and right hemispheres and prepares the brain for high-level reasoning, auditory processing, organization, and other skills.
Brain Gym is a great asset to any therapeutic program because “priming” the brain and getting it ready to perform optimally is always a good idea! Brain Gym is helpful for children and adults alike and has been shown to increase learning while decreasing the timeframe for achieving goals.

Executive functions are our higher cognitive processes we use in our everyday life.

They help us to make decisions, remember to attend important appointments, adapt to changes that occur, plan and organize important events, regulate our emotions and so so so much more.

They help lay the foundations for productivity, and our ability to engage, participate and function in our every day lives.
