India’s First Inter-Hospital Swap Liver Transplant Successfully Performed in Coimbatore !

GEM Hospital, in collaboration with Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, has achieved a historic milestone by successfully performing India’s first-ever inter-hospital swap liver transplant in Coimbatore. This pioneering surgery was conducted simultaneously across two hospitals, involving two patients and their respective donors in a carefully coordinated and ethically regulated procedure. The success required special approvals from the Tamil Nadu State Transplant Authority, real-time surgical coordination via live video feeds, and extensive planning by both medical teams. This groundbreaking achievement not only showcases the excellence of Tamil Nadu’s healthcare system but also offers new hope to thousands awaiting liver transplants across the country. A proud moment for Indian medicine and a true testament to what collaboration and compassion can achieve.
