Blended Learning: A Rising Innovation in Digital Education

Over the past decade, digital- and online-learning options have become more popular and more widely used in public schools, although many schools have been slow or reluctant to adopt new technologies for number of complex reasons, ranging from inadequate funding, technologies, and computing networks to general organizational recalcitrance and resistance to change.

Given the fact that the internet and most digital learning technologies are still relatively new, instructional alternatives such as blended learning could be seen as reform strategies—i.e., by incorporating blended learning, schools and teachers are forced to change the ways in which they have historically instructed and interacted with students.

According to a 2010 study from the U.S. Department of Education, blended learning classes produce statistically better results than their face-to-face, non-hybrid equivalents. Demand & Shortage of Medical Professionals in South Africa

South Africa is a country with the population of 54 million as indicated by the 2014 census.As estimated in 2011, the country had faced the shortage of around 80,000 healthcare professionals.Rural areas bear the major problems due to these shortages. Majority of the doctors’work in the urban sites that lead to the deficiency of the health workers in the most severe rural areas where more than 50% of the population reside.However, only 12% of doctors and 19% of nurses work in rural healthcare facilities.The Medical Schools in the country produces approximately 1200 doctors annually of which majority of them move overseas.

Foreign health professionals who are allowed to work in the health system will be allowed to do so for no longer than three years. Furthermore, No active recruitment for permanent employment in South Africa will be directed at other developing countries in the African region. South Africa has 393 nurses and 74 doctors per 100000 people. This translates to 0.57 doctors per 1000 patients, which is a dire situation, even compared with Brazil’s 1.8 and Mexico’s 1.9 doctors per 1000 people.

Distance Learning Opportunities in Ethiopia

Ethiopia, a country located in the Horn of Africa with a population of around 94 million, lacks the provision of higher education due to political, social and economicaspects.In the 1960’s, access to education in Ethiopia was verylow; only less than one-fifth (20%) of the school agepopulation were enrolled for education.There were high regional and gender gaps in gross enrollment rates.In the last 15 years, Ethiopia has shown remarkable growth in the expansion of education at all levels (primary, secondary and tertiary levels). Currently, the gross enrollment rate in primary schools has reached over 95%. Enrollment in secondary schools and in universities and colleges has also increased significantly.
Unlike many other countries, Distance Learning Programs would be a necessity in Ethiopia as it would be convenient for the students from rural areas to get educated. Distance & Online Programs have the potential to reach a large number of students who would otherwise be excluded from educational opportunities.The Government of Ethiopia supports distance learning in a major Way.

Directing Towards the Quality Education…

Education, being one of the vital factors to fight against poverty and society inequalities, is necessary to provide knowledge and skills mandatory for a sustainable economic growth and overall progress. Education should be made available to all irrespective of the caste, creed or religion.

When Swami Vivekananda articulated his ideas on education, India was not free to fashion its own educational curriculum; but today this barrier has been removed. It is a matter of regret that six and a half decades of having the freedom to choose has not yet been able to find the “right” kind of education which will help to make a mark in the world.

Some of the challenges of the prevailing education include poor infrastructure, less access to resources, inefficient teaching methodologies, scattered career counseling and awareness programmes and a lot more.

Inadequacy in standardizing the quality of teaching, poor eligibility criteria in recruitments, time consuming recruitment procedures, meager interaction between science and society, fewer options for science graduates due to less intake capacity within the state etc are some of the highlighted factors to be changed to promote quality education.

Focused & time-bound initiatives are required to reform the current education system.

Modiji’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan – the Dream of a Clean India

The essence of the proverb “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” will be established by Modiji’s dream of a Swachh Bharat (Clean India). It is a big step towards a Clean India. No other Prime Minister has effectively sold the idea to the People of India, the Idea of Clean India.

This is Very important to us, for the reasons that it would make the cities and towns healthy, litter free and beautiful. It would help us attract quality tourists from all over the world, to India , A clean India. The Sense of Hygiene has deteriorated in India due to various factors like unplanned Urbanization, Mushrooming spaces and unplanned cities. Unhygienic conditions breeds many diseases that are vector borne, air borne and through other forms of transmission
Modi JI has been effectively pulling people from all walks of life Including Big names like Sachin, Salman to the small school kid in a remote town towards this mission.

The habits of cleanliness should be imbibed in children from the very beginning via organizing small games, poems, storytelling and conversation among others.There should be Initiatives at Community level, Organizational level and Individual levels. Every religious place should preach the idea of Clean India. Clean India is a Nationalistic mission and a National Movement.
